1.Introduction
The project is about planning a new
city in the future either in the air, on water,
under water, underground or enhance
the old city to be a place that is liveable
after an event that rendered the old city a
place that isn’t safe to live in anymore. We
need to understand how a city is planned
and built and make a proposal for the

new city. It is for us to understand the
development, components and elemants
of a city.
2.The City
The city is a place where culture
and civilization exists, city planning has
existed for less than a century, they all
show degrees of forethought, and
conscious design in the layout and
function.

6.The “X” City
X City was founded in 1969 and
was one of the last surviving cities in the
world after the sudden rise in sea level. The
rise that was caused by lava tunnels under
the ice in Antarctica exploding and
melting all the icebergs and most of the
ice on lands. Shortly after that the same
thing happened in the Arctic, causing
cities in continents all over the world to sink
below the surface of the water. The
people of X city are of Malaysian origin,
they belong to three main races of
Malaysia Indian, Chinese, and Malay.
The new city would need to be
well protected but most importantly it
would need to be able to sustain itself well

and still last for centuries to come, to make
sure the people of the city live long and
healthy.
7.The Bubble City
Due to the fact that the city was
about to sink below the surface of the
water, I decided that a city that floats on
water was the best solution to the
problem. I Came up with the name when i
researched about how to make the city
float using compressed foam and air so
that when the seas are rough the city will
close up its giant glass pieces and be
completely covered from the outside and
look like a bubble. The Bubble city will be a
city that will be safe and continue to exists
for many years to come.

8.The Process & Progress
Because the circular shape of floating cities
were common and showed me a balanced
and therefore stable structure on the sea I
chose it. I decided that the main pavilion will
have the town square. The next two pavilions
will be the retail pavilion where the entire
pavilion will be used like a giant mall and the
commercial pavilion where all the office and

companies will be in. The next few pavilions will
be the residential pavilions where all houses
or condo like apartments will be placed. The
last two pavilions will be the education
pavilions, one will be the university pavilion
and the will be the primary and secondary
school pavilion.
For my next ideas I came up with an
organic shaped city that looked something
similar to a postage stamp. I chose that
particular shape because of balance reasons
so that the city floats effortlessly. The shape of
this city was not pleasing to the eyes or easy
to plan.
Next I came up with a circular ball
shaped city floating in the sea. I chose this
shape to ensure the city always floats but due
to its shape the city may turn upside down

ENBE | Final Project | Part A – Report | The Future City Representation
when hit by rough waters causing accidents,
chaos and many fatalities.
Then I came up with the idea of a
rounded square shape that will be floating by
compressed foam and air at the bottom,
besides that each corner of the square will
have giant protrudents of metal that can
detect when or if needed the city will close its
giant glass covers that will protect the city
from drowning and release giant anchors
preventing anyside of the city from rising to
high and flipping over. This city will have
greenery and animals at the core of it, that
will provide oxygen when the glass dome is
closed and continuous supply of food for the
people of the city.

ENBE | Final Project | Part A – Report | The Future City Representation
9.Conclusion
The city was built with the greenery of
trees and vegetables and a farm at its
center to ensure the supply of oxygen and
food is sufficient. The future city should be a
completely green city for the sake of the
new city surviving a long time and to avoid
the further deterioration of the natural
environment.
