3. •In one of the best known passages in
the Bhagavad-Gita, God, as represented
by Shri Krishna, is shown as telling
Arjuna: “Take refuge in me alone, I will
liberate you from all sins, do not
grieve.”
•Such a statement can be attributed only
to God, for only God can absolve
humans of their sins and liberate them.
The question is whether Shri Krishna
can do this.

4. What are the attributes by which we
recognize God? He is supreme,
Incorporeal, and does not have a
body like humans. Since he does not
have a body and is, therefore, not
born like humans, nor a body and is,
therefore, not born like humans, nor
would he have parents, techers or
blood relatives.

5. •He would also be accepted by all,
since there is only one God.
•Shri Krishna was born like other
humans and had biological parents
and relatives. Deities, after all, were
human beings possessing Divine
qualities.

6. Moreover, mythology tells us of
occasions when Shri Krishna
worshipped God Shiva (at Gopeshwar,
and near Kurukshetra, as Staneshwar).
If Shri Krishna himself was God, where
was the need for him to worship
anyone?

7. Lastly, Shri Krishna is revered and
worshipped only by those following
Hindu traditions, and that too by not
all of them. People of other faiths do
not accept him as God, and, in many
cases, do not even know about him.

8. God comes to this world to liberate the
whole of mankind from bondage to vices, as
all human souls are his children. It cannot be
that a deity who is known to, and
worshipped by, people of just one faith is
God. Remembering Shri Krishna can inspire
us to imbibe his qualities, but it is by no
means the same as remembering God, the
redeemer, the only one who can liberate us
from our sins.
