2. Bulgaria
Bulgaria is situated in
the south-east of
Europe, on the north-
eastern part of the
Balkan Peninsula. It is
an European, Balkan,
Black Sea and Danube
country. Because of its
geographical location
Bulgaria is at the
crossroads of Europe,
Asia and Africa.
Bulgaria is bounded on the north by Romania, on the east – by
the Black Sea, on the south – by Turkey and Greece, on the west –
by Macedonia and Serbia.

The favourable weather and geographic
location, as well as the ancient Bulgarian culture
are excellent preconditions for the development
of tourism.
4. OUR CITY
Burgas is the most
important economic,
transport, administrative
and cultural centre in the
South-East of Bulgaria.
The city is an
administrative centre of
the same name
municipality and district,
as well as headquarters of
regional and national
institutions.
6. OUR CITY
During the next years some very
important projects are going to be
implemented in Burgas – public cycling
transportation, taking the heavy traffic
out of the centre, restoring the island
St. Anastasia and the bridge,
rehabilitation of the old historical
centre.
7. OUR HIGH SCHOOL
VGST “Prof. d-r Asen
Zlatarov” was founded in
1959. We prepare specialists
for the tourist industry in the
region such as:
COOK, RESTAURANTEUR, HOSTELER,
HOTEL RECEPTIONIST, TECHNICIAN-
TECHNOLOGIST IN FOOD INDUSTRY,
BAKER-CONFECTIONER.
Our students gain II-nd and III-rd levels of
professional qualification.
8. OUR HIGH SCHOOL
The students and
teachers respect their
patron and offer wreaths
at his monument every
year.
They organize
school celebrations
entitled “Class on
stage”.
9. CONTESTS
We organize contests for
“The best young cook”, “The
best young waiter”, “The
best young baker”, “The best
young confectioner”. In 2012
their skills were evaluated by
independent jury.
Our students take part in
regional and national
professional contests.
12. EXCHANGE OF EXPERIENCE
In draft of The International
Francophone Organization two
teachers exchanged
experience at The College of
Tourism in Paris during their 2-
week stay.
Five of our students are going to
train their skills in France on
summer holiday.
13. EXCHANGE OF EXPERIENCE
In draft of Burgas Municipality and District
Degendorf /Germany/ graduated students go on
a trainee education in Germany in summer.
The High School of Tourism
in Burgas met a delegation of
District Authorities,
employers and The
Employment Service from
Degendorf and organized a
meeting with students and
their parents.
14. CHARITY
Our students are happy
to take part in the
organization and
implementation of
charity activities such
as Christmas and
Easter Bazaar.
15. TOURIST EXCHANGE
In May 2012 for the 11th
time VHST-Burgas took
part in the Regional Tourist
Exchange- Burgas,
organized by Bulgarian
Tourist Association
with a stall and
students’ visits.
16. LABOUR EXCHANGE
For 12th time in April
2012 we organized and
implemented Student
Labour Exchange – a
meeting of students and
their parents with
employers of
restaurants, hotels,
snack-bars, pizza-bars
and other tourist objects
in the region.
17. PROJECTS
We have taken part in more than 10 projects and
at present we are working on:

We have started multilateral projects in Leonardo
and Comenius, as well as common projects with
partners from abroad.
18. PROJECTS
BUSINESS AND SCHOOL – FOR MODERN
PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION
The project was won and started in 2011.
In 2012 we won a second project for modernization of
our training facilities and we started its implementation.
As a result we will renew a training kitchen and a
bakery.

WE STUDY AND WORK ON BEHALF OF
CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL
NEEDS
13 students with SEN / special educational
needs/ and hard of hearing are studying in our
school. 8 of them are in a separate class and 5
are integrated in the other classes. In order to
answer their special needs 30 teachers from our
school are in a process of 2-year education. A
special room has been equipped for them. All
school programs and books are going to be
adapted for them and a special applied program
is going to be made.
20. PROJECTS
SUCCESS
According this project there were organized
additional out-of-lessons activities, in a club
format, with a professional and other thematic
direction, for realizing and diversification of the
free time, acquisition of “key” competences, as
improving of the presentation skills, collecting
and processing an information, communication
in foreign languages, pro-active behavior.
