used before or after lessons to introduce or
reflect on topics, ask questions and build
knowledge.

3. o Use it as a learning journal for your
students to record their progress and
reflect on their learning.

4. o Embedding videos on your page can add
interest and engage students.
o They are a great way to introduce topics, ideas
and lessons.
o Link videos to other activities such as forum
discussions . After the students watch a video they
leave comments in the forum. watch
o Embedding a video, rather than putting in a link to a comment
website, means that you have more control over what

o Remember you can use videos from the Highbury provoke
MyTube site and also make your own with an easy to
use Flip camera (available from the library).

5. o There are some fantastic podcasts freely
available online on a wide range of
subjects.
o Try recording your own podcast (or get students
to do their own). The simplest way is to just use the
sound recorder in Windows 7. When you’re done
upload it to MyTube and then you can embed it on
your page in a handy player.
o You can also set audio assignments using Nanogong.

share o Use audio to support students who may find it difficult
to read text. Record yourself reading the passage and
react then they can listen and/or read.
respond o You could record pre-sessional ‘lectures’ so that you
have more time in class for discussion and
collaboration.

6. o Get students to collaboratively compile a
glossary of key terms related to your
subject area.

o The glossary entries could be used for peer

o You could enter items in the glossary as a reminder of
key vocabulary or as a pre-lesson activity. prepare

7. o The Choice activity can be used as a
voting tool, e.g. to decide on a class
outing.
o Use it to get data on what your class think about
certain topics and integrate it into the lesson.

8. AND FINALLY…

homework. The more you integrate it into
