2. Alcon Entertainment
• I found this logo when researching about film posters. I found out that
this specific film company was associated with the successful film ‘P.S I
Love You.’ The animation of the logo consists of a bunch of different
angles and positions of the man and the bow and arrow. Each individual
piece fades in and fades out from the left to the right and then appears
as the final logo at the end. The Logo is seen to be placed against a black
background. There are two different sized pieces of text within this logo.
The larger of the two is the word ‘ALCON’ which is the main name of the
company. Each individual letter is spaced out in order for it to be the
same length as the second piece of text. The second piece of text uses
the word ‘ENTERTAINMENT’. There is also a portrait rectangle that
consists of a man who is shooting an arrow with a bow. This is known as
the main image. Although it is harder to tell this, when looking at the
actual company logo animation, we can see it more clearly. The colours
used within this logo are black and grey. The grey logo stands out against
the black background. The rectangle uses both grey and black within it.
The main colour is grey but there is hints of darker
grey and black as it has been shaded to make it
stand out more and look more defined.
3. Spyglass Entertainment
• I found this logo when looking at the film poster for ‘The Vow.’ Similarly,
This company logo also uses a black background in order to make the logo
itself stand out. The logo animation consists of an ocean which zooms out
from the front of the spyglass and finishes at the final point. The logo consists
of both text and a main image. There are also two pieces of text within this
logo. The first can be found above the main image and reads ‘SPYGLASS’ in
capitals. The second piece of text can be found below the main image. This
reads ‘ENTERTAINMENT’ in capitals. Both of the texts are the same length and
therefore the top text has been spaced out in order for it to line up with the
main image and the other piece of text. The main image itself consists of a
man who is looking through a spyglass. The man is seen to be the same colour
as the background in order to stand out against the blues used in the rest of
the main image. The man can be seen to be standing on an ocean. We know
this because of the water that can be seen. We can also see that it is an ocean
because of the amount of space it covers within the
main image. In the top third of the main image, we
can also see the sky and some mountains in the
background. This image uses different blues and the
colours become lighter as it gets higher up the main
image.
4. New Line Cinema
• I found this company logo on the film poster for ‘The Notebook.’ Much
like the other company logos, New Line Cinema uses a black
background to make their logo stand out. The animation starts with
the rectangle which flips over and turns as it zooms out. There are four
film roles and two of them disappear to leave the two on the final
piece. The company logo consists of both text and a main image. The
text can be found underneath the main image and is in one single line.
The entire piece of text is in capitals and reads ‘NEW LINE CINEMA.’ It
is white in order for it to stand out against the dark background. The
main image above the text is of a black rectangle. The rectangle has
two film roles attached to it. The first can be seen on the left of the
square. The second film role can be seen going diagonally from the top
of the square to the right of it. The entire main image is covered in a
bright blue shadow. This bright blue shadow ensures that the black
image doesn’t blend it with the black background. By having the blue
shadow on the image, it allows for the image to be
seen easily and therefore it has been used to ensure
that the image stands out against the same
coloured background.
