69. Following the Armistice of 1918, Allied forces occupied the
German territory west of the Rhine. To maintain a military
presence on the eastern side, the Allied powers extended their
zones of occupation by creating three semi-circular bridgeheads of
30 km radius, radiating from Cologne , Koblenz , and
Mainz.Because of an error in measurement, the French and
American zones did not meet. The resulting gap on the eastern side
of the Rhine contained the Wisper valley, the towns of Lorch and
Kaub, and villages of Lorchhausen, Sauerthal etc ... Surrounded by
the two Allied bridgeheads, the Taunus range to the north-east, and
the Rhine to the south-west, this tiny region was effectively cut off
from the rest of Germany and subsequently separated from the
administration of the Weimar Republic. Owing to the circular
nature of the Allied bridgeheads, this enclosed territory took on the
shape of a _______, hence the name that was given to the
microstate, when it was declared on 10 January 1919.

purchased by the school, uprooted and transported to the

Collection at Brogdale can supply grafts from their tree, which

refused to accept the new date, or did not learn about it,
and continued to celebrate New Year's Day on _____.

84. I was born in Jamshedpur in 1957, to doctor parents
passionately interested in Carnatic music. Father, a very good
untrained singer, taught me my first songs. Started Carnatic
training locally at 7, and later with Sh T.M.Thiagarajan in Chennai,
while I studied Economics at Loyola College. Parween Sultana's
music made me yearn to learn Hindustani music. After an MBA at
XLRI, I joined ITC Sangeet Research Academy as a music scholar
under Pt.Nivruttibua Sarnaik of the Jaipur gharana.. Unfortunately,
certain cardinal errors in training methods damaged my voice.
Pt.Sunil Bose, another SRA Master with a brilliant scientific
approach had studied some Western voice principles and evolved
his own method for Indian music. He brought my voice back, but it
was not a musical voice. Nonetheless, I owe my perspective of the
Indian singing voice to him. I knew my salvation lay in the Western
system and after years of searching, I found Prof. Peter Calatin in
Rep. of Ireland in 1991. I started singing in 1993, and teaching
voice in 2003.Who am I ?

86. When heaven and earth began, three deities came into being,
The Spirit Master of the Center of Heaven, The August Wondrously
Producing Spirit, and the Divine Wondrously Producing Ancestor.
These three were invisible. The earth was young then, and land
floated like oil, and from it reed shoots sprouted. From these reeds
came two more deities. After them, five or six pairs of deities came
into being, and the last of these were Izanagi and Izanami, whose
names mean "The Male Who Invites" and "The Female who
Invites". The first five deities commanded Izanagi and Izanami to
make and solidify the land of X, and they gave the young pair a
jeweled spear. Standing on the Floating Bridge of Heaven, they
dipped it in the ocean brine and stirred. They pulled out the spear,
and the brine that dripped of it formed an island to which they
descended. On this island they built a palace for their wedding and
a great column to the heavens. Thus born what ?
