Units are available at entry level 1, entry level 2, entry level 3, level 1, level 2, level 3 and level 4 of the
Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales (CQFW).
The units are now all available in Welsh from the Agored website:

2. Shared LMS
 Phase 1a: Scoping study funded by CyMAL (2011)
 Phase 1b: Feasibility study funded by Jisc Digital
Infrastructure programme (2012)
 Agreed to adopt ‘consortium with governance’ model
 The approach requires all participating HE’s to jointly
procure the same LMS system, located in the cloud, but
with individual instances for each HEI rather than a single
instance.
 Phase 2: Procurement (2013/14)
 Appointed Programme Manager
 Procurement led by Cardiff University Purchasing
department
 Phase 3: Implementation (2015 – 17)
Governance
 Steering Group – all WHELF Directors
 Working Group – representatives from
all libraries, including NHS health
libraries
 Funding – project funding obtained for
Feasibility and Procurement Phases;
plus 50% of Programme Manager for
Implementation Phase; remainder to be
covered by HEIs.

Shared LMS  Phase 1a: Scoping study funded by CyMAL (2011)  Phase 1b: Feasibility study funded by Jisc Digital Infrastructure programme (2012)  Agreed to adopt ‘consortium with governance’ model  The approach requires all participating HE’s to jointly procure the same LMS system, located in the cloud, but with individual instances for each HEI rather than a single instance.  Phase 2: Procurement (2013/14)  Appointed Programme Manager  Procurement led by Cardiff University Purchasing department  Phase 3: Implementation (2015 – 17)

Governance  Steering Group – all WHELF Directors  Working Group – representatives from all libraries, including NHS health libraries  Funding – project funding obtained for Feasibility and Procurement Phases; plus 50% of Programme Manager for Implementation Phase; remainder to be covered by HEIs.

  6. Alternative models were: 1. Do Nothing(each institution remains with current supplier or replaces LMS at their own pace and independently of the others). This is not really a do nothing option as practically all institutions have indicated that they need to change or upgrade their Library Management Systems2. Buying Club(the partners collaborate on a single tender exercise with the view to achieving a single supplier for Wales HE, but with different LMS instances, and thepotential for mixed supplier cloud and local hosting or group hosting). 3. Consortium with Governance(the partners set up a formal consortium, mandating a single supplier for Wales HE, but with different LMS instances which could be hosted in the cloud.4. Fully shared LMS instance(formal consortia with single supplier on a single, shared LMS instance which could be hosted in the cloud.
