THE WHEEL SPEAKS 2013 - RIP MADIBA
1. THE WHEEL SPEAKS 2013 - RIP MADIBA
As we collectively reflect internationally on the life of the great Nelson Mandela let
us not deny what has to be addressed. A situation that has been truthfully ignored
even more so today then ever and that’s race relations. We’re not talking about a
brand or marketing something to benefits an individuals attempt to glorify their
identity because of a personal plight. We’re simply talking about what’s more often
ignored and it’s not right. And the more something seems more beneficial to
especially modern day media marketeers the more dangerous a situation it
becomes. Because it’s no longer about the betterment for all society it becomes
more of an emphasis on certain individuals and of course how can a profit be
generated. We’re collectively as a nation lost and in limbo seemingly without a true
destination. Simply ask the question that needs to be targeted on an international
level and it’s simple “where do we go as a collective people” because it’s become so
rivetingly obvious that many of us unbeknownst are being ostracized or exiled in
our own communities.
This is a great time to speak to our children of all races exactly of what the word
Apartheid means. Racism is sadly more so alive than ever and anyone who frowns
especially upon verbal acknowledgement of it's existence today is probably guilty in
some way or another of it festering. I remember years ago a campaign was created
by Sean Combs aka P Diddy where the slogan or catch phrase was "Vote Or Die".
Sadly voting does empower racism as well to simply meaning that racist individuals
are very well aware the complexity of the world has change. And don't for one
second assume that everyone no matter how harmonious the speeches simply will
or do represent everyone as a people.
2. I've seen from a personal level how it can be assume that a vote defines an
individual (or someone assume to be a winner). We are all defined by our
contributions to society as caring people not by being judgmental or exclusive
thinkers. We live in a society that has changed in so many ways but sadly has for the
worst when it comes to race relations. And as the years progressive pass those who
have led or champion the call to unite us as a collective people are being called
home.
And as we all still search in limbo for what continues to evasively be non-associated
with society in general. Until we learn we'll continue to cry always at the wrong time
together as a people RIP MADIBA!
Respectfully,
Basil Thomas
