1. Why would this film appeal to a youth audience?
This would appeal to the youth audience because it is about the youth itself and
it storyline shows the typical lifestyle of youth in our days.
2. Is this a positive for youth to watch?
Yes it is a positive film for youth because it is very realistic and shows the youth
the consequences of choices they make in their life and who it affects around
them.
3. How are youth depicted both older Ricky and younger (Curtis)?
Ricky is presented as a older boy trying to get out of the gang culture and have a
better lifestyle. However, is still caught up in the gangs and goes with his old
ways. Curtis is a young boy who is portrayed as a confused boy who doesn’t
know which route to follow he is stuck between either following his brothers
ways or being a good boy and giving himself a future.
4. What parts of the film did you find realistic?
The majority of the film I found realistic. Parts such as the gang culture and the
shooting that goes on because this happens in our everyday life young people
getting shot because of gangs.
5. Did you find any parts an inaccurate representation of youth? If so, which
parts and why?
No I do not think that there was any part of the film inaccurate everything
represented the youth realistically and was not too over exaggerated.
6. Explain why you thing the mum uses Ricky to leave after Curtis accidently
shoots Rio.
Because if it was not for Ricky having the gun around his brother he would have
not took it and played around with it. The mum decides this because she doesn’t
want Curtis to be influenced by his brother’s wrong decisions and make the same
choices as him.
7. How is the family unit represented in this film? Think about the relationship
Curtis and Ricky have with their mum.
The family is represented as very distanced especially the relationship between
Ricky and his mum. They seem very distanced showing that they never spend a
lot of time together like mothers and sons are supposed to, which could also be
the cause of his behaviours and the fact that they do not have a father there.
Curtis on the other hand has a stronger relationship with his mother and has a
fatherly figure there.
8. How is friendship groups represented?
The friendships in the film are shown as they give and take. So in other words
they always have their friends back no matter what.

2. 9. Why do you believe Ricky is trying to go straight and avoid getting into
trouble?
He has been into prison and knows that what he did is wrong, he most proberly
feels that it’s time to change and that he wants to become a better role model to
his little brother.
10. How does ‘bullet boy’ address gang culture?
It shows the reality to gang culture and shows the consequences of this gang
culture that we have in today life.
11. What are themes/messages of the film?
I think the main message presented in this film is that everyone has a choice it’s
just a case as to whether you want to make the right choice or wrong choice
which can lead to death which is what happened to Ricky in the end.
12. Describe the relationship between the two brothers Curtis and Ricky.
They have a very tight relationship and Curtis seems to want to follow what his
older brother does towards the beginning of the film. However, Ricky tries give
him the best advice he can to push him away from gang culture and violence.
13. How does Ricky respond to Wisdom’s death? Why do you think Ricky still
takes the money?
I think that Ricky was very upset but he also knew there was nothing he can do
because taking revenge would either mean he is going to prison or result In his
death. I also think that he still takes the money because he has no choice and he
knows that Wisdom would have wanted him to take that money.
14. Why did Ricky send Curtis to the shop and then leave?
I think he knew that Curtis would properly try to stop him from leaving and he
would make it harder for Ricky with all the emotions.
