2. Carlos Fuentes Carlos Fuentes is one of the most well known authors of numerous screen plays, dramas, and short stories. Fuentes is best known for his novels, which use complex and innovative narrative techniques to probe Mexican history. Fuentes combined his life as a writer with a successful career in international relations that cumulated in being appointed Mexico’s ambassador to France in 1975-77. 3. Diego Rivera Diego Rivera is considered the greatest Mexican painter of the twentieth century. Diego was Born in Guanajuato, but raised in Mexico city. Diego is the one who contributed the reintroduction of fresco painting into modern art and architecture. His large wall works of fresco’s helped establish the Mexican Mural Renaissance. His Murals have created a visual memory of Mexico’s historic past. All of his work reflects cultural changes taking place during the turbulent twentieth century. 4. Octavio Paz Octavio Paz is considered to be the most prestigious and controversial poets of Spanish American literature in the second half of the twentieth century. Paz was raised in a town called Mixcoac of Mexico city. He was a Nobel-Prize winning poet, writer, diplomat and publisher. His poetic corpus expressed powerfully the belief that poetry constitutes “the secret religion of the modern age.” A prolific author and poet, Paz has published scores of work during his lifetime, many of which are translated into multiple other languages.
