2000 Calorie
                     Diet
The 2000 calorie diet came when the USDA food
consumption surveys of the era found that women
typically consumed 1600 -2200 calories/day, men 2000 –
3000 calories/day and children 1800 – 2500 calories per
day. Because of the data being collected, the FDA
proposed using a single daily calories intake of 2350
calories/per day. The calories eventually dropped to 2000
because it’s consistent with widely used food plans, and
it’s the rounded down value of 2350.
