2. GETTING THE JOB- RESUME
• Know how to make a successful resume, and include as
much information as you can on yourself and your
strengths; this will make potential employers more likely to
consider you.
• Scout out some potential workplaces on the internet or
newspaper. Some businesses will put up “now hiring” signs
on their doors or windows as well, pay attention to these!

The easiest way to
create a resume is
to use a template,
which can be found
online. Include all
important
information about
yourself, and follow
what the template
outlines for you.

4. GETTING THE JOB- RESUME
• Hand out your resume to many places you’re considering to
work; not just one. The more you hand it out to, the more
likely you are to get a call back. Don’t just depend on one
potential workplace.
• If you don’t get any calls back at all, wait a while, go back to
hand them out again! However, be careful not to be
annoying 

5. GETTING THE JOB-INTERVIEW
• Once you are contacted by a potential employer, you will be
asked to come in for an interview. When getting ready for the
interview, it is usually helpful to look good. Most potential
employers are more likely to hire people that present
themselves as nice looking, on the first meeting. To them, it
shows respect and confidence.
• Confidence is also important. Hold your head up and speak
with a clear voice, but try not to seem over confident or cocky.
• **Note** Some employers prefer you not to wear access jewlery
(ie; piercings) but it depends… each employer will be different.

• How you talk to the potential employer is very
important.
• Confidence is key
• Answer all his or her questions with complete honesty,
employers will recognize the honesty. Highlight your
strengths, but don‟t boast about them.
• He or she will ask many questions; they could range
from simple to personal. Be prepared to answer either
or both.

• Each potential employer will have different questions for you,
here are the most common ones:
• “What interests you in this job?”
• “Why do you want this job?”
• “What skills or abilities do you have?”
• “What will you do to contribute to this company?”
• “What does „Customer service‟ mean to you?”
• “What challenges are you willing to face?”
• “What more would you like to know about this job/company?”

10. GETTING THE JOB-THE CALL BACK
• After your interview, the employer will choose to call you back,
or not. If you are unsuccessful, they will probably not call you
back. You can call them to ask, but again, try not to be
annoying.
• If they call you back, and say you got the job, Yay! Good job! Be
polite and say thank you, and if they don‟t specify, ask when you
will be starting.

• Congrats! You now have a job! Work hard
at your job, and try your best!

• Once you have your job, it is important to know how to
keep safe while you‟re at it!

• Everyone needs to be careful and aware of the risks associated
with a job. Every job has risks, but certain ones more than
others.
• Some common workplace injuries that can be prevented are:
• Cuts, Burns, slips and falls, bone fractures, concussions,
muscle strain, sickness.
• You can prevent all of these with proper instruction, training, and
sensibility!

15. WORKPLACE SAFETY
• Did you know, young workers are more likely to get hurt on the
job than any others? This can be for many different reasons,
such as lack of experience, fear to ask for help, or stress from
outside sources such as school or friends.
• All injuries are preventable though, so make sure you know your
rights and risks!

16. WORKPLACE SAFETY-RIGHTS
• As a worker, you have certain rights to keep you safe. Such as:
• The right to proper training for any part of your job
• The right to refuse an order if you feel unsafe
• The right to ask for help when needed
• The right to participate
• *Remember, just because you are new or inexperienced
does not mean you should be in more danger than other
employees!!*
