Erin Case is a multiple award winning visual artist based in Midland, Michigan who works in collage using both analog and digital methods. While still an undergraduate, her work has gained international attention for its marriage of surrealism, sincerity, and evocativeness. This photomontage portrait replaces the woman's face with a landscape while retaining elements like her long plaited hair that identify it as a portrait. The bright landscape fills the space where the face would be, with a leading line guiding the viewer's eye to the location of the mouth.

This photo is a portrait photomontage where
the land scape has replaced the face of the
woman. I know it is a face of a woman
because of the style of the hair which is long
and plaited. It also has a mirrored effect
where it feels like the photo carries on
forever. It’s in color and the landscape is quite
bright. The leading line in the landscape lead
to where the mouth would be in the portrait
so that the face is still identifiable. I like this
photograph because the artist has used to
photographic mediums to bring together a
photo the two concepts that have been used
are portrait and also landscape which would
usually not go together but because the face
has been taken away it brings the photo
together. I know this photo is a portrait
because you can clearly see that there is hair
and a body of a person but there face is
missing, however You can still make out the
shape of the face by the hair of the model.
