We all hear a lot of bad stories about cheap tippers and even cruel tippers. Those mean, stingy tourists who wait for every single cent of change. Those cruel little gnomes, who God forbid, leave a single penny to those hard working waiters and waitresses. But we are not all doomed. Fortunately, some outrageously generous tippers do exist as those 10 stories we’ve collected prove. Those amazing people restore the faith in humanity and the power of doing good.
There is even one story that shows how far can one go, when a truly generous spirit has no money to tip. At times that dark people are willing to sacrifice all, even their own… No, not life! But something almost equally dear. So, enjoy our selection and learn how to tip properly!

3. The $500 pizza dinner
Don’t you just love pizza! One couple who dined in
Rhode Island pizzeria definitely loved theirs. And they
liked the waitress as well. One day in 2012, a pretty
generous couple came in and ordered a pizza, a salad,
and a pitcher of beer. The total bill was $42 bill but
something or someone must have impressed them
as they left leaving $500 on the table. At first, the
surprised waitress thought that was a mistake and
accidentally left the five hundreds. Kristen set the
money aside until the pair returned to the restaurant
the other day and tried to return it to them. Well,
that was no mistake! The couple assured her that the
$458 tip was no mistake.

4. The$500memorialtip
This story proves that every cloud has a silver lining.
One hard working guy, Shea Mower, paid most of his
college tuition with tips he earned working at a
restaurant. Unfortunatelly, his life ended abruptly as he
was killed in a DUI car crash. His college friends decided
that the best way to honor him would be to pay it
forward by giving one lucky waitress a $500 tip. With
that plan in mind they all chipped in for the tip and on
Shea's birthday, they decided to have dinner at
Outback Steakhouse. At the end of the meal, the group
donated the entire sum to the waitress that served
them on that night.

5. Thelastwish$500tip
We’ve all heard some strange stories about the last
wills. This one, however, does not seem that weird
given the fact Aaron Collins always felt sympathetic
toward those who worked in the service industry after
working in a pizzeria and watching his best friend
work as a waitress while going to school. He therefore
decided to add a stipulation to his will. When he died
unexpectedly at 30 it turned out he asked his family
to leave a huge $500 tip at a restaurant. The problem
was he didn't leave any money to his relatives to
complete this last wish. His brother Seth found a
solution – he put up a website to collect donations.
The outcome surprised everyone – the donations
quickly surpassed the $500 they needed. In fact the
money they collected allow Seth to leave tips at
restaurants all around the country, starting August of
2012.

6. The$500otiptobuyacar
Most tippers are not that specific when it comes to
declaring what the waiter should do with the tip money.
But Greg Rubar customers were different. Greg was a
waiter at D'Amico's Italian Market Cafe in Houston for 16
years and had been regularly waiting on one particular
couple at the restaurant for eight years. He must have been
good at it as one day, the customers handed him fifty $100
bills! But it was money with purpose. The man told Greg go
and buy himself a car with it. The intentions were good and
instructions to buy a car weren't just a guess. In fact the
couple knew that Greg had recently lost his car in a
thunderstorm a few weeks prior. Surprised Greg tried to
return the money, but the couple refused, insisting he get a
car with the tip money. What a thoughtful couple they
were!

7. pick your number wisely
The story behind the image you see in the background of
this slide is pretty wonderful, if it is really true.
Supposedly, the customer who was very pleased with the
staff asked the server to pick a number between 1 and 10.
When the waiter picked 7, he earned himself a $70 tip.
While some skeptics point out that this could easily be
the customer copy of this receipt and not the legitimate
merchant copy, we still choose to believe that the story is
true. After all, good things happen to good people. And
good tips happen to good waiters. This one is a certainly
creative one!

8. johnnythefantastictipper
Well, what can we say – there are plenty of reasons to
just adore this guy. Even if we still kind of don’t get how
he could leave Vanessa, the list of things that proves his
fabulousness is long. Now there’s another reason to
admire Johnny Depp – it turns out that he's also a
fantastic tipper. The star of “The Pirates of the Carribean”
was a frequent visitor to Gibson's steakhouse while he
was filming “Public Enemies” in Chicago. On one particular
evening, he and his group of friends and co-workers
arrived at 11:30 p.m. and stayed for three hours while they
ordered bottle after bottle of $500 wines to celebrate
another hard day of work. When they left, Depp left the
server a generous $4,000 tip for his efforts. Lucky guy
that waiter!

9. trumptipsandtrumps
Oh those alpha males, always competing, always
engaged in some sort of penis measurement contest. It
turns out however that when it comes to tipping that
kind of spirit can be kind of beneficiary. At least to the
waiter. We may object to Donald Trumps hairstyle, his
show The Aprentice and even his business style, but at
least he seems to be a good tipper. In fact he is a very
good one. On one occasion, after running up an $82 tab
at The Buffalo Club in Santa Monica, Trump asked the
waiter what the biggest tip he ever received was. The
guy replied that Jerry Bruckheimer once left him a $500
tip on a $1,000 check. Trump just had to be better. He
nodded his head, said, "you're very good at your job"
and then left the waiter a $10,000 tip. That’s the story
according to the waiter. But who would want to lie
about Donald Trump.

10. ThehonestwaiterandIRS
The next story just proves how it pays off to be an honest
citizen. Most servers who would receive a $12,000 tip
probably wouldn't report it to the IRS, let alone turn it into
the police. Stacy Knutson however did what she thought
was proper. After customers left her perhaps one of the
most generous tips in history, she turned $12,000 into the
police. The mother of five was worried it was stolen or
tied in with some other crime. The police told her she
could keep it providing no one claimed it in 60 days.
They’ve changed their mind when after the waiting period
ended, officials decided she couldn't keep it after all
because it smelled like marijuana. It meant it had to be
seized under state law. To compensate her for her
honesty, police offered her a mere $1,000. Dut Stacy was
no fool – she refused the offer and filed suit to get the full
sum back. It must have worked as the police quickly
changed their minds and returned the full amount to the
waitress.

11. theworldlargesttip
I’m sure you remember one of the most famous
tipping stories of all time depicted in the movie “It
Could Happen to You”, starring Nicholas Cage. In fact,
this story was true! In 1984, police detective Robert
Cunningham – a regular at Sal's Pizzeria for eight years
– asked Phyllis Penzo who waited tables there, if she'd
be interested in splitting a lottery ticket with him
instead of receiving a tip. She agreed and helped him
choose the numbers. Robert called her a few days later
to let her know he just won $6 million dollars and that
half of that was hers. Well, it just proves how cool
being a nice waitress can be. And that cops ain’t that
bad.

12. the lottery ticket tip
It’s hard to believe but the Phylis Penzo history
repeated itself in 1995. Not to Phylis, as that would be a
true shocker, but to another lovely waitress – Tracy
Dalton. John Steele, an auto parts worker in Toronto
after having a great meal left a lottery ticket as a tip for
his favorite waitress Tracy and asked her to let him
know if she won anything. She agreed not only to
inform him but to share any prizes from the ticket, as
well. A few days later, the ticket ended up being worth
$184,700, meaning both parties got a cool $92,350.

13. thetipthatmakesyougohmm…
This New Orlean story proves that every waiter should be
prepared for the most bizzare displays of gratitude. One
nice waitress Nola was working late as her guests were
the top 12 of little people adult stars. They all dressed
slinky and with lots of leather, so Nola asked what they
did. They all laughed and said they were midget porn
stars! The company had a great time and after having
drank 8 bottles of wine and a number of mixed drinks,
Nola left them their check. When she returned they were
gone. Since they left in a flash Nola assumed they ran out
so they wouldn’t see her face when she saw their strange
tip. The over 15% extra was in order but the added value
shocked Nola. It was the biggest black dildo she had ever
seen! It appeared brand new as it was still shirk wrapped
with the name Rambone on the label. Needless to say it
was kind of difficult to walk all the way through the
restaurant carrying this tip that she definitely couldn’t
hide under the apron!
