1. Looking back at your
preliminary task, what do
you feel you have learnt in
the progression from it to
the full product?
2. Planning
• At the start of our preliminary task we kind of just dived straight
into putting clips in a order not really stopping to think what
should go where, but when we were advised about a storyboard
it made the whole process of putting a film together
comprehendible. When we did our final product the idea of a
storyboard made the concept more understandable and because
we had done one for the preliminary film we had an idea of how
to do structure it and how to use our time effectively.
3. Equipment
• For our preliminary film we only used a poor quality flip camera
which didn’t give the film the cutting edge it needed where as on
the final film we used a higher quality camcorder meaning the
image looked clearer and was crisper.
4. Editing
• The preliminary films editing was poor and of a terrible
standard missing the cutting points and having unessassary
parts in there making the film look poor. In the actual film we
took time and precision in what points we were cutting and
went back to re-film if we thought that the clips weren’t of a
high enough standard.
5. Sound
• On the preliminary film we took clip off of Youtube and didn’t
get the in and out points sorted properly as there is singing
which we didn’t want and it cuts abruptly which makes no sense
in the theme of the story.
• In the final film we mashed some soundtracks together to get
the sound we wanted then put it in. but we would mess around
with the soundtrack to make sure it fitted perfectly into where
we wanted and that it didn’t sound out of place.
6. Team Work
• Team work at the start of the project was okay but a bit strange
as I had just moved to the school at the start of the year and
didn’t know Jas and work with another member of the class but
as the year progressed Jas and I became good friends and when
the project start date appeared Jas and I decided to go together
meaning the process was a lot easier to do.
7. Ineffective Ingredients
• When we did our preliminary task we had things such as
titles/credits and an ident. These were rubbish and didn’t
benefit the film so the film didn’t look as professional as it could
and therefore its letting down. However when doing the final
product we spent more time and effort on them so they looked
professional instead of cheap and tacky so the film was of a
higher standard.
8. Missing Ingredient
• We didn’t have a call sheet which made planning during the
final product a lot easier to manage.
