The history of agriculture in India dates back to the Rigveda. Today, India ranks second worldwide in farm output. Agriculture and allied sectors like forestry and fisheries accounted for 13.7% of the GDP (gross domestic product) in 2013, about 50% of the workforce. The economic contribution of agriculture to India's GDP is steadily declining with the country's broad-based economic growth. Still, agriculture is demographically the broadest economic sector and plays a significant role in the overall socio-economic fabric of India.India exported $39 billion worth of agricultural products in 2013, making it the seventh largest agricultural exporter worldwide and the sixth largest net exporter. Most of its agriculture exports serve developing and least developed nations.

Millets are a group of highly variable small-seeded grasses, widely grown around the world as cereal crops or grains for human food and as fodder. Two major millet crops currently growing in India are Bajra (pearl millet) Jowar (sorghum), Other indigenous varieties of “small millets” like Ragi (Finger millet). Sanwa (Barnyard Millet) Proso millet ( Cheena) Kangni (Foxtail Millet) why to grow millets Low input cost: These are good for the soil, have shorter cultivation cycles and require less cost-intensive cultivation. Climate resilience: These unique features make millets suited for and resilient to India’s varied agro-climatic conditions. Drought tolerance: Millets are not water or input-intensive, making them a sustainable strategy for addressing climate change and building resilient agri-food systems. The following attributes are aptly applied to millets. a. Good for the consumer: they can help overcome some of the biggest nutritional and health problems (iron, zinc, folic acid, calcium, diabetes); b. Good for the planet: they have a low water footprint, are able to survive in the hottest driest climates and will be important in coping with climate change) c. Good for the farmer: can increase yields up to 3 fold, have multiple uses (food, fodder, fuel), and are typically the last crop standing in times of drought being a good risk management strategy for farmers. “Millets are beneficial for the farmers and especially the small and marginal farmers” Millet crops do not require much water and get matured in a very short period Superfood: Millets contain plenty of protein, fiber, and minerals Along with reducing obesity, they also reduce the risk of iabetes, hypertension, and heart-related diseases Millets are also very beneficial in fighting malnutrition since they are packed with energy as well as protein.” 2023, has been declared by the United Nations as International Year of Millets. This message has reached millions of people and created mass awareness of the importance of millet. The water resources of Karnataka primarily constitutes surface and groundwater. Rainfall is the basic source of water in the state. Karnataka is blessed with seven river basins. There are 36,753 tanks in the state and they have a capacity of about 684518 hectares. The rivers, along with their tributaries, account for much of Karnataka’s surface water resources. Surface water is available in Karnataka in the form of rivers, lakes, waterfalls, reservoirs, etc. Being the seventh largest state in India (area-wise), Karnataka possesses about six percent of the country’s total surface water resources of about 17 lakh million cubic metres (Mcum).

The presentation was made for being part of Winning Haryana 2019 Think Tank membership with clear focus on securing abundance from renewable energy secure animal husbandry GDP generation which came under unprecedented assault by the blasphemers of Lord Krishna masking themselves up in the name of Hindu, a secular word applied for all living around the river Sindhu. I have argued for clear reference to history of the man made prohibitions against consumption of meat by 'Jains' who rever Neminath, the cousin of Lord Krishna. I have argued for protection of Sanatan Dharma ideals upheld by prophet Abraham SUH and HP referred as Brahmma here in Sanskrit texts. Prohibition of consumption of beef is not at all associated with Sanatan Dharma avtars. Cattle is capital across the societies integral to agriculture. Trade in cattle and cattle products is important for security the reward for humanity. The plot of usurers and blasphemers of Lord Krishna and prophet Abraham SUH and HP referred in history will not succeed. This plot must be defeated by all through education. I have been arguing for integration of animal husbandry GDP generation in urban habitat designs in order to ensure post oil age preparedness of the cities across the lands.

Vision changed the livelihood - Yuva Rural Association Multilayer vegetable cultivation in the village is an excellent example of judicious utilization of soil and water resources to take full advantage of limited land resources. Also, access to markets has been one of the major drivers of this innovation in farming practice. Now he is the ideal farmer from his villages among the other agriculturists in the region. Soil moisture and nutrient dynamics in this vegetable farming technique should be of interest to further investigation.

Around 70% of producers (farmers, tribals on forest land etc.) population in India comes under the category of small (19%) and marginal (51%) farmers. These categories of farmers have land holding of around 1 hectare and implementing existing policies to allot Govt. land to them (Booklet no. 434, Agricultural situation in India: ASIS-6). This population is mostly, poor, hungry, malnourished, illiterate, isolated, deep in debt, having lost their knowledge to follow their agro-ecology, having fallen into global investment in the market oriented development research, with extension focused on adapting and converting to high cost, high risk green revolution/Biotechnologies systems. This is the cause of their distress and the agrarian crisis in India. So, if we want our agriculture to again contribute significantly to the development and growth by becoming sustainable in the long term, we need to assist/facilitate by meeting the needs of the producer community so that they once again follow their producer oriented, low cost, low risk, agro ecology, primarily to meet their nutrition, food and cash requirements as this is the target population (mostly women and youth) that has capabilities and if given proper resources to develop their capacities
