Erfahrungsbericht: "Bring Your Own Device" in Verbindung mit einem Software-Kiosk

5. Aufgaben der IT-Abteilung
Zentraler Einkauf
Verwaltung und Betrieb Druckerlösungen
Server und IT-Infrastruktur
Helpdesk für Mitarbeiter und Studierende
Verwaltung und Betrieb von 200 „Public Clients“

Laptops , PCs , Macs , Software

At first: The Device
- It has to be regulated and very clear to the User,
- who brings the device
- who pays for the device
- how much security do you want to enforce on the device
- Who is responsible for Hardware defects (for example Warenty)
- OS Versions and OS Types (Make some kind of „recommendation“)
- Challenge for us : Student License are different to License for faculty staff
- Usually in the Industry not a big deal, for us a huge Challenge
- in the industry there are often exceptions for „home use“ or there are special „Home use Agreements“
- Usually you make a Contract or accept the License Agreement
- So to make it clear, this Contract is between the Software Vendor and the Company
Usually There is no User involved in this Contract
There is some kind of Use Agreement which defines the „Boundaries for the Use“ of the Software, but the User is not involved in this Contract
everyone wo uses Software has to sign this Contract
This contract is written by Layers (like the License Agreements with the Vendor) and it ist installed in this form for more than 4 years and was never challenged

Parents ?
STEP ONE
- Login to our Download section
- Download a script install it and that’s it!
This Script is personalized with information from the Login and installs the FileWave Client with special attributes and deletes itself
STEP TWO
- File Wave Client is already installed, and we need to Check if the Software Use Agreement is signed
- but at this time the Client is already manageable in de FileWave System
- Non licensed Software is already accessible, linke Printer installation, Software Use Agreement and others
- One of the IT Employees checks by Hand the new entry and moves it to the right department. THIS IS THE ONLY Action we need to take by hand. We could skip this but this is our one and only „Check“ by human
