WiMAX is a future proof, mainstream telecom technology 802.16e is a IMT-2000 technology for both TDD and FDD WiMAX Release 2 to be based on 802.16m, which was submitted to be an IMT-Advanced technology. 50 companies came out at ITU Telecom World this past October in Geneva to support 802.16m as an IMT-Advanced technology Also at ITU Telecoms World, several vendors including Samsung announced support for WiMAX Release 2. Samsung had an 802.16m demo available at its booth Yota announced that it would work with Samsung to deploy an 802.16m network as soon as products were available.
