Virtual Fireplace TV
1. How to Create a Virtual Fireplace TV
This short guide will tell you how to turn your HD TV or SMART TV into a beautiful virtual
fireplace. TV screens can be turned into a high definition fireplace by following these
simple steps.
STEP 1 - Get a fireplace video
The easiest way to get a fireplace video is to simply download one from Uscenes or buy
one on disc from Amazon. If buying from Amazon you will find that the quality is far
superior on a Blueray disc (standard DVDs are not full HD). If downloading from Uscenes
you will get an MP4 video in full HD.
Or
The alternative is to create your own fireplace video. For this you will need a fireplace to
film. If you don't have one or know anybody else, you could try restaurants in the winter.
Next you will need a camera and a tripod or something else to keep it level and still.
Usually you will be in a room with a chair or table which can be used in place of a tripod.
Set your camera to the highest setting for recording video, 1080p at 24 fps (frames per
second) is a good setting. Then start recording and relax for a while. The length of the
recording will depend on your preference. You may want to watch the fire die down over
an hour or so, or you could just repeat the best 20 minutes or so. The best option is
usually to repeat 20 minutes so that there is a seamless loop which you can leave on all
day.
Once finished recording transfer the video file to your computer, and cut off the beginning
and end if the camera shook when you pressed the record button. You can do this in any
video editing software like the free Windows Movie Maker or iMovie.
2. STEP 2 – Put the fireplace on your TV
If you are using a DVD or Bluray simply place it in the machine, press play and then select
the Repeat or Loop option so that it plays continuously.
Or
You can play the video file stored on your computer through a media streaming device like
the Apple TV or Google Chromecast. For the Chromecast just press Ctrl and o (Windows)
or Command and o (Mac) to search for files. Select the video, then right click once opened
and choose the Loop option. For the Apple TV play the video on iTunes on your computer,
select the Repeat option and stream it through your Apple TV.
Step 4 – Enjoy your new virtual fireplace TV
Sit back and relax as the amber glow from the flames makes your room feel cosier. You
can leave the fireplace on your TV all evening and enjoy a break from TV shows, movies
and video games.
