2. Factory workers dealing with production of popcorn and buttery
flavored items are more at risk to get exposed to a chemical
namely “Diacetyl”. Though it is used to increase flavors of the
food item yet at the same time, it is dangerous for physical health
condition of the workers. For an instance: if inhaled for a longer
period then it can result in the disease called popcorn lung. The

Popcorn lung is also referred to as bronchiolitis obliterans
technically. It results from the following problems:
•Disorder in connecting tissues
•Rheumatoid arthritis
•Transplanting lungs or bone marrows and
Infections in respiratory system

3. Some of the popcorn lung disease symptoms or bronchiolitis
obliterans, as it is termed are dry cough, illness in respiratory
systems, getting exposure to harmful toxic for 2 to 8
weeks, breathing problems etc. Diagnosis of the problem is very
complicated as the symptoms of popcorn lung disease are
connected to other diseases as well. It is irreversible but getting
treated with steroids can provide relief to patients to a certain
extent.
How the disease can be diagnosed and treated:
Pulmonary function and imaging tests are good to detect the
problem. Even conducting lung biopsy is also worth and is one of
the effective ways indeed. As mentioned before, the problem of
popcorn lung disease cannot be eliminated but getting right
treatment can help in the process.
