2. WE ARE MUSEUMS. Lithuania in action
On 30th June, 2009 Lithuanian Art Museum founded a
new department – the Lithuanian Museums’ Centre for
Information, Digitization and LIMIS. Generally speaking,
its mission is to organize and coordinate the digitization
of museums’ valuables, to present Lithuania’s national
holdings on the international portals and thus to enrich
European digital collections. Furthermore, it is
responsible for the development of the Lithuanian
Integral Museum Information System (LIMIS) which is
administered according to homogeneous standards and
encompass a number of collection databases of Lithuanian
museums.

 promote the researches of the
Lithuanian Cultural Heritage,
 enrich Europe’s Cultural Resources.

10.  LIMIS is a complex, distributed
information system which
includes:
• stocktaking, data gathering,
process and exchanging
(LIMIS-M),
• data aggregation, preservation
and sharing (LIMIS-C),
