Welingkar’s Distance Learning Division
 The invitation that you receive as an invitee tells you
the date, venue and time of the event
 Most cards would at the end have “R.S.V.P ––Mrs.
XYZ Ph no.2222 2222”
 R.S.V.P stands for “repondez’il vous plait” meaning
“respond if you please”
 It is courtesy to let the inviter know whether you will
attend or not

 Inform the inviter of your attendance at the
earliest either by phone or by a mail. But
respond.
 Some invitations also ask if you are a
vegetarian. You should respond to that.
 This is done so that the invitee is in a better
state to decide how much of food to order

 In some cards for security reasons, you are asked to
carry your invitation card. You should comply with
the request. Failure can result in embarrassment
 Check whether the invitation is for you alone or for a
guest (a friend or spouse). If it does not
mention, then you should ask. (You don’t want to
land up at a stag party with your spouse)
 If it is a business function, the dress code will be
indicated on the invitation card. If you are not sure

 If the party is an anniversary or is at someone’s house then it is good
manners to take a gift along. The thoughtful gesture will be
appreciated
 The nature of gift will depend on the relation you share with them

 A bouquet of flowers, wine or a box of chocolates is appreciated. Do
not gift anything expensive
 Whenever gifting, enclose a card so that the inviter is not puzzled as
to who gave which gift
 After dinner it is good manners to call the host and thank him/her
for calling you.

the company.
– So dress well and look good
– Limit your alcohol intake
– Do not overfill your plate
