William Joseph Mondy Jr.
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Specialist
Whilst continuing his education was elected Student Vice President, graduating in 1981 from Embry Riddle
Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Florida; AAMT Standing and FAA Airframe - Powerplant License.
Branching into the Aerospace world as a qualified Technician William was granted a top-secret security
clearance during 2 separate assignments at Kennedy Space Center Florida, processing commercial and military
satellites and payloads, with McDonnell Douglas Technical Services Company, then with Morton Thiokol and
Rocketdyne as a Mechanical Engineer and Quality Assurance Inspector respectively on the Space Shuttle.
Entering into the field of Commercial Aviation, finding himself engaged as a Ground Engineer and Flight
Mechanic on Douglas DC-8 and Boeing 747’s providing engineering support throughout the United States. The
status quo continued eventually serving as a 3rd
Officer with Southern Air Transport’s mission effort
maintaining direct engineering support on DC8-71’s during Operation Desert Storm in Spain and Saudi Arabia.
As part of considered career advancement, William joined the staff of American International Airways, Detroit
USA as a Technical Writer in 1993 with emphasis on Maintenance Planning. As part of a high profile group,
William was to be a key member of the team that introduced the L-1011 Freight-Star program into the USA,
ending his tenure there as a DC-8 Fleet Manager.
Engineering Contracting and Maintenance Representation became the hallmark role, starting the company
business named Sigismondi Aeronautica, while providing consulting services and sub-contracting to numerous
owner-operators and high profile companies. Maintenance Programs became a specialty and the birth of the
Zone Area packaging of work cards was a trendsetter. William returned to his beloved ground engineering
duties in Liege, Belgium during spring and summer 2004 as Lead Station Engineer and 3rd
Officer on Boeing
747’s, continuing on in this role until 2008. William maintained a Challenger business aircraft at Domodedovo
Airport in Moscow Russia during 2011. During the first half of 2012 William authored EASA Aircraft
Maintenance Module Manuals for an Aviation Training facility in Lithuania (EU). Residing in the United Arab
Emirates since July 2012, hired as an Airframe Structures Engineer for a 2nd
tier non trunk Boeing 747 Cargo
Operator. William is writing a book about World War II Italian Fighter Ace Adriano Visconti. Interests include
enjoying old movies, photography, art, painting, football, swimming, boating and fishing… together with his
wife in the U.A.E. and in the magnificent forests and countryside in the Great Republic of Belorussia.
William is proactive results orientated Aeronautical Engineer, with over 40
cumulative years experience in Aircraft Maintenance, Maintenance Planning and
Quality Assurance. Starting out in 1968, the first to achieve an Aviation Merit
Badge from the Valley Forge Council with the Boy Scouts of America, an early
passion for flying machines took him on to Atlantic Aviation at Philadelphia
Airport USA, where he was to become a volunteer mechanic at age 14! Enlisting
in the USAF in 1972, William served with the Strategic Air Command as a
Maintenance Specialist on Convair C-131 and Lockheed DC-130’s nearing the end
of the Vietnam War. Tours of duty in Southeast Asia included a successful
campaign with Air America. Moving back to Civilian life in 1976, William was
hired as a Cargo Station Load Agent with Summit Airlines in Philadelphia USA.
