This document is a portfolio about educational technology created by Lenlie Rose P. Calderon. It begins with an introduction of the student and an overview of what will be covered. It then discusses educational technology, including its definition, topics covered in the class like the role of IT and software used. It describes how the student learned about integrating technology and realized teachers can't be replaced by computers. It concludes that the student now has additional knowledge and skills to follow current trends while still using traditional methods.

3. THE STUDENT
Hello there! I’m LENLIE ROSE
P. CALDERON, a 3rd year
Student of CAVITE STATE
UNIVERSITY (Main Campus)
taking up Bachelor in
Elementary Education major in
Early Childhood Education.
4. THE STUDENT
Educational Technology
or EdTech is one of our major
subject. In this portfolio, I will
let you know the things that I
have learned in this course…
5. Educational Technology in a Nut Shell
Educational Technology is a field of
study which is concerned with the
practice of using educational methods
and resources for the ultimate goal of
facilitating the learning process.
6. Educational Technology in a Nut Shell
Educational Technology is the effective
use of technological tools in learning. As a
concept, it concerns an , array of tools, such
as media, machines and networking
hardware, as well as considering underlying
theoretical perspective for their effective
application.
7. Educational Technology Topics
In this subject we tackled about:
• Educational Technology in the Asia Pacific Region
• Inclinations to Educational Technology
• The Role of IT in Educational Technology
• Computers as the Third Revolution in Education
• Use of Technology in Teaching-Learning Process
• Application/ Software Commonly Used in Education
/ Hands-on Activities
8. Educational Technology in the Asia Pacific Region
During the last few years, progressive countries
in the Asia Pacific region have formulated
state policies and strategies to infuse
technology in school. This help the educators
to create an educational technology
environment in the schools.
These five progressive countries are:
9. Inclinations to Educational Technology
Basic Concepts on Integrating Technology in
Instruction
• There’s a change in the way classes are
traditionally conducted.
• The quality of instruction is improved to a
higher level in such a way that could not have
been achieved without educational
technology.
• Technology occupies a position (in a simple or
complex way) in the instructional process.
10. Inclinations to Educational Technology
State-of-the-Art ET Application Practices
Educators today have become more aware and
active in adopting state-of-the-art ET practices
that they can possibly adopt. Today, one can see a
greater need for teachers to acquire not only
computer literacy, but competence as well.
Audio-visual aids available may not even apply
anymore since modern-day computer
hardware-software has rendered them obsolete.
11. The Role of IT in Educational Technology
IT Enters A New Learning Environment
Meaningful Learning
Generative Learning
Discovery Learning
Constructivism
12. The Role of IT in Educational Technology
Higher Thinking Skills Through IT-Based Projects
Resource-based Project
- The teacher steps out of the
traditional role of being a
content expert and information
provider, and instead let the
students find their own facts
and information.
Guided-Hypermedia Projects
- Hypermedia combines the
concepts of hypertext and
multimedia to allow rich
interaction between the
user and the material.
Simple Creations
- Students can also be assigned
to create their software
materials to supplement the
need for relevant and
effective materials.
Web-based Projects
- Students can be made to create
and post web pages on a given
topic. But creating web pages,
even single page web pages,
may be too sophisticated and
time consuming for the
average students.
13. Computers as the Third Revolution in Education
Computers as Information and Communication
Technology
ICT is an umbrella term that includes any
communication device or application,
encompassing: radio, television, cellular
phones, computer and network hardware and
software, satellite systems and so on.
14. Computers as the Third Revolution in Education
The Computers as a Tutor
Computer-assisted instruction (CAI) is an
interactive instructional technique where by a
computer is used to present the instructional
material and monitor the learning that takes
place.
15. Computers as the Third Revolution in Education
The Computer as the Teacher’s Tool
16. Use of Technology in Teaching-Learning Process
The Software as an Educational Resource
19. Learning Through Educational Technology
The integration of technology in instruction is
not really easy for it needs time and training
to do it and I believe that adequate hands-on
computer skills would greatly help in the
integration of technology for a teacher. This is
one reason why this subject is should be
included in the curriculum of every education
course.
20. Learning Through Educational Technology
Educational Technology as a subject have
thought me plenty of things on how
technology can greatly affect how to make
education easier yet more reliable and
effective. As a future educator, this course
helped me a lot and thought me many things
that I can use when I become a teacher
someday.
21. Learning Through Educational Technology
There has been fear that someday in the future
teachers will be replaced with CAI because it
is much better if we will use the computer to
assist us in our learning for it is consistent and
objective, but through learning educational
technology we realized and should always
remember that “No Computer or Machine can
replace a Teacher”.
22. The Student after Educational Technology
The two girls shown in
the picture represent
me before and after
learning educational
technology.
The first one shows the
traditional me and the
other showing the
modern me.
23. The Student after Educational Technology
When we consider
technology integration,
we don’t have to settle
aside the traditional
way that we used to do
but rather we must
consider it as an
additional knowledge
and skills for us to
follow the trends that is
happening nowadays.
24. Educational Technology
Technology is just a tool. In terms
of getting the kids working
together & motivating them,
the teacher is the most important.
