Soul Surfer is about a real life experience that had happened to a surfer, so the
fact that it’s a true story it has a big impact towards the audience. Such as it
being a hard hitting movie, it is also unexpected and shows that could happen
to anyone.
What audience expectations have they established or challenged by
using this structure?
They have established the expectations of the film having a beginning, middle
and end. However, towards the end the audience might have expected
Bethany to have won in first place but she came in 5 th and was still satisfied
with that.
