2. After completing the documentary, radio trailer and
the double page spread we set up several focus
groups and questionnaires to gather feedback from
our products which we created. We gave the
questionnaire to 10 people who were our target
audience which included 5 boys and 5 girls. We
asked them questions based on how they felt after
looking at the double page spread, listening to the
radio trailer and watching the documentary. The
questions mainly asked whether we have been
successful in what we have created and whether
the products were appealing to them.
3. Are you male or female?
We asked this question as we wanted to know whether gender
would have had an effect on our overall results as the documentary
was aimed at teenaged boys. From the result we can see that we
had more girls then boys answer our documentary, so from the
results we collect we will be able to see whether there will be any
significant difference.

The documentary is
informative
We asked this question because we wanted to know whether our
documentary was successful in getting the message across about
violent video games. From the results we can see that the
documentary was very informative as we received very positive
feedback as all 12 people said that strongly and agree that it was
informative. This means that we have been successful in getting
our argument across and people are now aware of the dangers and
aggression violent video games can cause on teenagers.
5. Did you learn something?
Yes
No
This was a simple and straight forward question. From this
we wanted to know whether they had gained knowledge from
our documentary as documentaries should be educational
and help people come to an understanding.
By looking at the results we can see that the results were
positive as every single person had gained knowledge from
our documentary whether or not they agree with the
arguments we bought forward.

The Language used is Suitable
In this question we wanted to know whether the language we
used was suitable for our target audience and whether it was
appealing to them. This was important as the target audience
should feel comfortable and be able to understand what the
documentary is trying to say. From the results we can see that all
12 people said that they think that the language used was
suitable. This shows that we used the right type of language
which makes our documentary appealing to our target audience.

Was the music suitable
Yes
No
We asked this question as it was important for us to know whether
the music was suitable for our target audience and whether the
music sets the tone of the documentary as the music makes the
documentary enjoyable to watch. We received positive feedback
from our target audience 83% said that they thought that the music
was suitable. However the 17% who said no could have been the
girls who wouldn’t really listen to drum and bass or the boys.
However in the area of music I would say that we have been
successful in the choice of music but we may have made
misjudgement on what we thought our target audience would like.

Did the documentary keep your
interest all the way through?
Yes
No
This question asked whether the documentary was interesting and
the main point of documentaries is to keep people intrigued and
entertain them despite the issues being raised and educational
points. We can see that 92% of the people said that they were
interested throughout the documentary which is very positive
feedback. However 8% said that they were not interested which is
concerning as our documentary was to inform people about
violence having a negative impact, and if out audience aren't
engaged and listening then the documentary has failed in
informing people.

Did you like the narrator we
used in the documentary?
Yes
No
This was an important question as the narrator guides the
audience throughout the documentary, in our case it is very
important as it was an expository mode documentary. If people
do not like the narrator then they won’t watch it. We can see
that 100% of people said that they liked the narrator which is
great feedback it shows that the narrator has the power of
being influential and he can manipulate which leads to the
audience agreeing with his argument.

What would you rate the
documentary?
This was an important question as we needed to know what
our target audience thought about our documentary overall. By
looking at the result 6 people voted our documentary as being
8/10 where 5 people said that it was 10/10 which is positive
feedback as it show that we people enjoyed watching the
documentary which means that they may agree with our
argument and that they see some elements as being true. This
shows that we have successfully applied all of the codes and
conventions.
11. 75%

Would you show this to a friend or
family member?
Yes
No
The main reason why people watch documentaries is because they
want to learn and pass on the knowledge to other people and to
decide whether they agree with the arguments in the documentary.
By asking this question we wanted to know whether people would
want to show this to a friend or family member. By looking at the
result it shows that 75% of people would and 25% would not. I think
that we have been successful as we have created an awareness that
violent video games can cause aggressive behaviour and that’s why
the majority of people would recommend this to a friend as they are
concerned or intrigued by the matter.
12. The feedback we received was positive showing that we have
successfully met the requirements for our target audience and that
we have successfully applied all of the codes and conventions which
are required in a good documentary. however we had many
improvements to make such as the background music should have
been more suitable for our target audience and we should have
changed the music rather then have the same music throughout the
documentary. Also we were told that the sound levels needed
improvements which is a major element in any documentary as
sound levels should be perfect in order for the audience to
understand and be able to listen to the documentary. That may have
been the reason why the 8% of people said they were not kept
interested through out the documentary.
