PROBLEM STATEMENT
l A highly self-motivated, experienced, hiring manager at a café with a limited view of education options
Needs a way to maximize her chances of finding prospective employees with adequate skill acquisition and job readiness prior to the end of
their schooling
because knowledge is not the determining factor in work success.
“Key positions require experience.”
“Level of experience needed depends on position but key positions need time management skills, the ability to
handle different kinds of people and situations, problem solving, decision making, giving & receiving feedback and
management skills.”
“If someone went to a really good school maybe they might be qualified right outside of school.”
“Education is different in different countries.”
“Work attitude is most important factor for success and high performance at work. Talent but bad attitude is not
good either.”
“There are some employees who think about face before their work. When they make mistakes they can’t take
responsibility for them.”

employees it cannot be the sole hiring factor.
There needs to be opportunities to get experience before the end of
school.
Skills can be taught, but attitude cannot.
Management contributes to employee success perhaps as much as prior
experience.
University is about knowledge, not about skills.
Previous advancement is a good indicator of a promising candidate.
Disappointment from taking risk with inexperienced
employees before.
Vulnerable to disrupt operations or lose customers due to
bad employee selection.
Distrust in education system.
Pride in employee standards we have set.
Committed to quality as critical for success of business.
Assured of superiority of experienced candidates.
Aware promising candidates may be disqualified prematurely.
