Blender is an open source and cross-platform 3D creation suite for 3D modeling, animation, and game development. It was first developed in 1995 as an animation tool. Blender is free to use, allows for scripting and customization through Python, has a small file size, and exports to other formats. The presenter provides examples of modeling a car engine and the open movie Sintel, and concludes with a demo and Q&A.
