Ever wondered how some people seem to be showing such happiness at work? Not only that, but why they’re the people who are constantly ticking off achievements? Well, they have a few secrets: things they do every day to ensure they are positive, productive and working towards their goals.
Here are their secrets to happiness and success at work:
1. They start and end the day well
Everyone has days that aren’t great: tasks you have to force yourself through in order to get to something better, or times that just don’t go as you’d hoped. But if that’s sandwiched in between a great start and a fun finish to the day, then you’ll come out the other side with some happiness intact. Remember to do something you love every day, whether that’s at work or outside work, or a mix of both – this will help you be a well-rounded person that’s happy and ready for achieving great things.

7 Habits of Happy (and Successful) Employees

2. Everyone has days that aren’t great: tasks you have to force yourself through in order to get to something better, or times that just don’t go as
you’d hoped. But if that’s sandwiched in between a great start and a fun finish to the day, then you’ll come out the other side with some
happiness intact. Remember to do something you love every day, whether that’s at work or outside work, or a mix of both – this will help you
be a well-rounded person that’s happy and ready for achieving great things.
2. They’re social at work
Being social doesn’t mean you have to be BFFs with everyone – it means you need to make the effort to network around your workplace and
beyond. Communication, after all, is they key to learning and getting where you want to be. Take some time to learn who people are and get
to know them.
3. They take risks
You’ll never hear a successful person say they’ve always sat within their comfort zone. No, they say the magic happens just outside that
comfortable spot: they take risks. Trying new things is a way to keep yourself fresh and on top of your game, and it helps you push the
boundaries to find new ways of doing things. A measured, well communicated risk is something your boss will look kindly on and, more
importantly, it will help your feelings happiness and success.
4. They take responsibility - development, ownership
The happiest and most successful employees are the ones who take ownership of their job. No matter what level you’re working at within a
company, you can take responsibility for your job and how you do it. Taking pride in your work and doing your best is the way to the top.
5. The keep track of their achievements
Keeping a note of what you’ve achieved isn’t for bragging purposes (although that's fun sometimes too!), but because it's easy to get caught
up in all the things that aren't done yet that you forget to be proud of what you have done. Writing down your achievements, big and small, is
the best way to look back over your days, weeks and months and acknowledge that you've achieved things. There's nothing more satisfying.
6. They actively seek feedback
The most successful people don’t just take feedback on board – they actively seek it. Find a mentor or leader whose opinion you trust and
respect, and ask them to help you better your progress at work. Understand that we all make mistakes; the important thing is to learn from
them and get better at what you do.
7. They take breaks
The quickest way to unhappiness is to feel like you're a slave to your job. So, you need to switch off from it. Take regular breaks during your
work days, don't take work home with you - or, if you do, set boundaries including a switch-off time - and get a good night's sleep to clear your
head, ready for success the following day. Weekends and annual leave, too, are important for your happiness levels.
