2. Premier Culinary Trip Itinerary:
Day 1 – Sunday. Guests will arrive around 11:00 a.m. in Bari, where we will take a walk around the city. We
will then shuttle to Polignano a Mare, which is perched on steep cliffs along the Adriatic Sea. We will stop
for a lovely lunch at Chichibbio, followed by a shuttle to your to your new Italian home, an exquisite Villa in
the country which is situated among olive groves, vineyards and gardens with the freshest organic
ingredients. You have the afternoon off to explore, settle in, read or take a walk of the property. Our
evening will start with an apertivo, before moving on to our opening dinner prepared with our guest chef.
Day 2 – Monday. After a lovely continental breakfast at the Villa, we will head into Monopoli at 9:00 a.m.
to shop at the local market. The Monopoli Market has the freshest ingredients available, and we are sure
you will love the experience of buying the day’s food at this quaint, outdoor market. After the market, we
will walk around the town, stopping for a family style lunch at Osteria Pericci, a fantastic local eatery that
will be serving the morning’s catch from the Adriatic Sea! Following lunch, we will shuttle to an olive oil
orchard where we will walk the grounds, learn about productions and taste the oil. Finally, we will head
back to the Villa for a cooking class with your Chef, using the morning’s market ingredients. Buon appetito!
Day 3 – Tuesday. Today, after breakfast at the Villa, we will drive to Altamura to explore. On the way, we
will stop at the DOP bread producer for a bread class. Next, we will head to the town of Matera for lunch
at Latteria Pizzi, followed by an afternoon guided walk of the stunning ancient Sassi of Matera. After a busy
day, we will shuttle back to the Villa for a late afternoon rest and free time. Enjoy your at the Villa alone or
with friends, before we head out to a decadent dinner at one of the region’s most noted restaurants.
Day 4 – Wednesday. After breakfast, we will drive to Alberobello, an UNESCO heritage site, to meet local
superstar, Mimmo, and take a walk through town and stop for lunch. Next, we will head to an afternoon
culinary class on making fresh mozzarella with local expert, Dina, followed by an orchiette pasta class. The
evening will start with a liquor tasting class, followed by an evening cooking class with the Chef, where we
will use the pasta we made and freshest market ingredients to prepare our dinner.
Day 5 –Thursday. Today, we visit the city of Ostuni, known as the “White City”. We will head to the Ostuni
Market with our Chef, and then take a city walk with local guides. We have another special lunch and wine
tasting planned at the Livelli Winery. After our time in Ostuni, we will travel to Lecce for an architectural
and historical walk, before heading back to the Villa for some free time prior to dinner. We will use our
fresh market ingredients from Ostuni for our evening’s cooking class and dinner with our Chef.
Day 6 - Friday. After breakfast, we are happy to offer you a free morning, optional, shuttle to the city of
Martina Franca. For lunch, we will head to a restaurant by the sea, Savelletri, and sample some of the most
exciting seafood from the Adriatic. After a relaxing afternoon by the Sea or at the villa, we will have an
apertivo together, before sharing our last cooking class, where we will prepare our farewell gala dinner
accompanied by fine wine.
Day 7 – Saturday. After our final group breakfast, the Southern Visions/Active Cultures Travel and Keeper
Collection Teams will bid you farewell and shuttle you back to the airport. We hope that you have gained
the exposure to the region’s cuisine and the eager and receptive culinary audience that we promised. We
are sure you will be changed for the better after Puglia, for it is a place that has changed us all.
