Question 4 Who would be the audience for your media product?
Who is your target audience in terms of age? The age of my target audience is from the age of 14 to 19 years old, this is because most artists of this genre are either this age or slightly older so it appeals best to this age group “Strings” fits this age group by showing pictures of people of this age group shown below. “Strings” also shows that it is aimed at this selected audience by using appropriate text. This is done by using slang frequently in the magazine as this age group use slang on a daily basis
What is your target audience in terms of gender? “Strings” is based mostly at the male gender because many artists and bands feature mostly male members such as Tokyo Police Club, Vampire Weekend and The Temper Trap but a few bands such as The XX feature female members “Strings” shows that it is mostly aimed at the male gender by featuring all photographs of males and there are no females featured in the magazine. This shows “Strings” needs to work in the future to feature females more in the magazine as the target audience does include females
What is the ‘profile’ of your audience? Here is a example of “Strings’ target audience, interests are skateboarding, music and drawing (art) His attitude and lifestyle is laid back and not in a rush to do anything as he has a relaxed feeling towards anything When he goes shopping he normally follows the trends of the skateboard style with brands such as Vans, Real and Zero. Sometimes he goes for high street brands but the product will have to appeal to him every well His media interests are horror and comedy films, music and extreme sport TV channels and use social network sites such as “Facebook”
