1. Negotiation courses in Zimbabwe
In May 2012, Critical Discussions, in
conjunction with Mandi Rukuni Seminars hosted
a two day Basic and Advanced Negotiation
skills course at the Wild Geese Lodge outside
Harare.
2. The courses were delivered by Samuel Passow, Director
of the Negotiation Lab which is based in Canterbury,
Kent in the UK. Sam is a Harvard trained negotiator, an
accredited mediator and a trade consultant to the UN,
WTO, EU, and the Commonwealth Secretariat who
teaches negotiation and mediation courses to post-
graduate students, business executives and government
officials at universities in Britain and Russia.
3. Negotiating with the Chinese
In July 2012, the Negotiation Lab launched a specialised
course on how to negotiate with the Chinese. This
workshop, delivered by Samuel Passow, explores the
cultural differences an African negotiator needs to be
aware of in recognizing the bargaining strategies and
tactics that their Chinese counterparts are using and
more importantly, how to take advantage of those
cultural differences to forge the best deals for African
companies.
