Not much is happening in the mobile world of Windows in general. However, there was a new flagship-type phone released this month – Alcatel Idol 4S. Granted it’s a US-only phone (for now, at least) and the fact that we haven’t looked at US in a while, we decided to dedicate this issue of AdDuplex Statistics report to US.

3. Data Source
This report is based on data collected from around 5,000 Windows phone apps
running AdDuplex SDK v.2 (and higher). The raw data analyzed was collected over the
day of November 21st, 2016 (UTC time) unless otherwise stated.
We have made every attempt to consolidate different reported phone model names
under their canonical retail model names, but it is possible that some of the rare model
name variations were not accounted for.
AdDuplex is the largest cross-promotion network for Windows Phone and Windows
Store apps and games empowering developers and publishers to promote their apps
for free by helping each other. AdDuplex was established in January 2011 in Vilnius,
Lithuania. As of November 2016, more than 10,000 apps actively use AdDuplex to gain
more visibility.
4. Windows Phone Devices – US
November 21st, AdDuplex
Last time we looked at US
mobile devices was back in
August.
While the top 2 phones didn’t
change (Lumia 640 and 635)
and account for almost half of
all Windows phones in use, the
rest of the chart has seen some
changes.
Lumia 640 XL is at #3 now and
Lumia 950 is #4. This may look
encouraging on the face of it,
but percentage shares of these
phones are still bellow 4%. So
not a big dent in the overall
spread.
Lumia 650 has entered the
chart at #9 since we last
looked.

5. Windows 10 Mobile Devices – US
November 21st, AdDuplex
If we take just the phones
running Windows 10 Mobile we
still find Lumia 640 at the top.
It’s followed by Lumia 950 and
the gap is quite small (0.9%).
An interesting sighting is Alcatel
Fierce XL at #5 with 5.6%. No,
that this is not the newest fancy
Idol 4S, but an earlier model.
Where’s the new Alcatel? It’s at
#16 and it’s already ahead of
HP’s Elite x3 (#19) after just a
week on the market. Though
this could be a splash from the
new phone setup activity. We
should see if it progresses up
the chart next month.

6. Windows 10 Mobile Manufacturers – US
November 21st, AdDuplex
There’s no question who is at
the top of the Windows 10
Mobile manufacturer chart,
but Alcatel is quite notably at
#2 with 6.2% share. HTC and
BLU are at slots 3 and 4
without an actual “native”
Windows 10 Mobile device.
And the rest are just bleeps
in the Other column.

7. Windows 10 Mobile Operators – US
November 21st, AdDuplex
When it comes to mobile
carriers people use their
Windows 10 phones on,
AT&T is firmly on top. If you
consider that Cricket at #2 is
wholly owned by AT&T, you
see that the network is the
most used by Windows 10
Mobile customers (66.6%
combined).
Depending on the success
(or lack thereof) of Idol 4S we
can expect T-Mobile to
increase its share in the near
future.

8. Windows Phone/Mobile OS versions – US
November 21st, AdDuplex
Growth of Windows 10
Mobile share has stalled
worldwide in the last couple
of months and US is no
exception. Windows 10
Mobile is at 15% and
Windows Phone 8.1 is still
dominant with 80%.
This presents a major
obstacle in UWP adoption for
mobile-first Windows apps.

9. Windows 10 PC manufacturers – US
November 21st, AdDuplex
HP is a market leader when it
comes to PCs running
Windows 10 both worldwide
and in US. The lead is even
more pronounced in the states
– 32% vs. 22% worldwide.
However, contrary to the
worldwide chart, Dell is a
strong number two in the US
with a 2.5x lead on Lenovo.
Toshiba is ahead of Asus and
Acer (behind them worldwide).
And Microsoft is #7 in both
charts. However, the 4.3%
market share is higher than the
worldwide 2.8%. Not surprising
considering limited worldwide
availability of Surface devices.

10. Windows 10 Mobile OS versions

Windows 10 Mobile may not be spreading fast enough, but within the Windows 10 world the
updates seem to be going pretty smoothly. More than 90% of Windows 10 Mobile users (both in
US and worldwide) are now on the Anniversary Update or later – a pretty safe target for app
developers.
