Day 1, Wed 13 Mar: Arrive London
Disembark your plane (or broomstick) at Heathrow Airport and make your own way to
your hotel in the city centre. After settling in, we will enjoy a panoramic afternoon tour of
the British capital, taking in the city’s main sights and experiencing a ride on the London
Eye, the setting for the thrilling wizard chase in the Order of the Phoenix. Return to the
hotel for a sumptuous welcome dinner with your fellow Potter fans (unfortunately, the
Sorting Hat will be unable to attend). (D)
2. Day 2, Thu 14 Mar: London
Spend some time amongst the muggles on a full-day tour of London with a specialist
Harry Potter guide. Highlights of this morning’s sightseeing include Big Ben, Tower
Bridge, Platform 9¾ at Kings Cross Station and the Westminster Tube Station, which
Harry and Mr Weasley pass through en route to their Ministry of Magic hearing in the
Order of the Phoenix. This afternoon you will visit Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum,
where in 2007 Daniel Radcliffe became the youngest actor ever to be immortalised in
wax. (B)
Day 3, Fri 15 Mar: London
Apparate from your hotel to the Warner Bros Studio (a coach transfer will be provided
for non-wizards), where you will experience a behind-the-scenes Harry Potter tour. A
highlight of this unforgettable excursion is a chance to step inside Hogwarts’ most
recognisable locations, including the Great Hall, Dumbledore’s office, Professor Snape’s
potions classroom and the Gryffindor common room. You’ll also stroll along Diagon
Alley and enter a special effects workshop to see how the incredible creatures of the
Harry Potter films were brought to life. After some free time to explore, you will return to
the city centre and spend the rest of the day at your leisure. (B)
Day 4, Sat 16 Mar: London – Stonehenge – Lacock – Oxford – London
Today is spent discovering a few of southern England’s Potter-related locations. Marvel
at the mysterious prehistoric monuments of Stonehenge before continuing to Lacock, a
picturesque village that played the role of Godric’s Hollow in the film series. The
splendid Lacock Abbey was also used for a number of interior scenes in the Chamber of
Secrets. Our next stop is Oxford, where a guided walking tour lets you admire the Great
Hall at Christ Church College (better known as the Hogwarts’ dining room) and the
Bodleian Library, which wannabe wizards will recognise as the Hogwarts’ Library and
Sanatorium. Return to London late this afternoon. (B)
Day 5, Sun 17 Mar: London – Gloucester – Stratford-upon-Avon – Chester
Depart London this morning and drive to Gloucester. Venture into the Gloucester
Cathedral, whose magnificent vaulted interior was used extensively for scenes in
Hogwarts’ corridors (and unlike Harry, you won’t need an invisibility cloak to explore
them properly). Continue to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare,
England’s greatest writer (after JK Rowling of course!). Visit the bard’s birthplace and
Anne Hathaway’s Cottage before driving on to Chester, where you can spend the
afternoon discovering this delightful northern city at your leisure. (B)
Day 6, Mon 18 Mar: Chester – Lake District
Depart Chester this morning and drive to the Lake District, an impossibly scenic area that
has produced some of England’s most renowned authors and poets. Pay a visit to Dove
3. Cottage (the former home of William Wordsworth) as well as the nearby Wordsworth
Museum and Gallery. Spend the rest of the day soaking up the region’s natural and
literary highlights at your own pace before checking in to your country house hotel for
the night. (B)
Day 7, Tue 19 Mar: Lake District – Edinburgh
Drive through gorgeous rural landscapes and across the Scottish border to Edinburgh.
Around lunchtime we will embark on a pilgrimage to the Elephant House, the traditional
tea and coffee shop where JK Rowling gazed over Edinburgh Castle while writing the
early drafts of what would become the most successful book series of all time. This
afternoon we will enjoy a guided walking tour of the city, including the breathtaking old
buildings of the Royal Mile. (B)
Day 8, Wed 20 Mar: Depart Edinburgh
Our Harry Potter adventure comes to an end this morning. (B)
