This document provides information about a volunteer program called "Learning to Look" which introduces K-5 grade students to different artists and art forms. 4. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
 Grade Coordinator
• Schedule sessions with teacher and parent volunteers
• Assign an artist to a parent (depending on # of volunteers in a class
you can do more than 1 session)
• Email artist bio, art project info and talking points to volunteers

5. TRAINING
 Lead by Diane Greenwald
 Slated for February 9:30 – 11:30 am (make up sessions available)
 Robyn Lane insists that the training be mandatory to ensure quality
sessions in the classroom

 Projects: Action painting, cityscape, mobile
 Trip: Neuberger

9. 2 ND GRADE
 Coordinator: Jenny Goldban
 Artist: Seurat, Monet, Van Gogh
 Projects: Explore different painting techniques, signature styles –
pointilist, finger paint, palette knife
 Trip: Metropolitan museum

10. 3 RD GRADE
 Coordinator: Debra Zik
 Artist: Hokusai, Van Gogh, Hiroshige
 Projects, laquer box, Sumi-e drawings
 Trip: Hammond museum, clay art center, japanese garden
 Special Tea Ceremony in school

11. 4 TH GRADE
 Coordinator: Ronnit Vasserman
 We are in the process of changing the curriculum - it will tie into
colonial art
