2. CONCEPT NOTE
Capacity building on business development plan
for the rural poor women in the common
interest groups (CIGs)

3. CONTEXT
Many income generation activities and loans
have been delivered to the rural areas but
poor rural women seem hardly to know how
to invest the money appropriately from these
support, so limited results have been
achieved.

4. GOAL
To support women’s socio-economic
empowerment in the CIGs in Ben Tre province
through the common interest groups and
better business activities.

5. OBJECTIVES
• Build the capacity of women to set up their
business to get higher income
• Reinforce the role of CIGs and its activities for
women members
• Improve their business in next production.

6. ACTORS
• Mass organizations at commune level (Women Union,
Farmer’s Association, Youth Union),
• The common interest groups (CIGs),
• Commune Development Boards (CDBs),
• Project Facilitators,
• Government officiers at all levels and different donors.
CIGs will play the key roles from setting up the
proposals, submitting to CDBs for approval,
implementation, M&E, and establishing new plans).

• Awareness campaigns through leaflets,
loudspeakers, information corners.
• Trainings (BDS plans, daily records, gender
mainstreaming, technical skills, M&E).
• Active proposals.
• Pilot implementation.
• Sharing meetings/workshops.
• Upscaling/Replicating.
