Presented By: Rick Pruitt

Item # 4
City Council Meeting
February 22, 2016
2. 2
● Address concerns regarding on-street parking
congestion created by visitors to the Alamo
Heights Little League and other unrelated
fundraising events
• Little league games are the greater contributor
to on-street parking during the regular season,
post spring league tournament and off-season
leagues
Background
3. 3
● Available off-street parking can become
overwhelmed with the overlap of games in
progress and the next scheduled games
• The greenspace adjacent to the nature trails
and swimming pool is used for large permitted
fundraising events (5K-10K runs, Pooch
Parade, Evening in ‘09)
Background
4. 4
● Multiple options have been considered to address
parking congestion on Alamo Heights Blvd
adjacent to the little league complex
• Consideration: restrict parking “at all times” along
the north curb line of Alamo Heights Blvd from its
intersection with Jones Maltsberger/Devine Rd to
the intersection with the 100 block Alamo Heights
Blvd, southbound
Background
5. 5
• Consideration: place signage at the corner of
Alamo Heights Blvd and Viesca directing drivers to
available little league parking on the Viesca side
of the little league complex
Background

Restricted and time limit parking zones may become
necessary in areas where vehicular mobility and
pedestrian safety are compromised by on-street parking
congestion. The creation or repeal of restricted and time
limit parking zones by a municipality is authorized in
Section 542.202(a)(2) of the Texas Transportation Code
and Alamo Heights City Code Section 18-99,
“Designation and Marking of Parking Spaces and Where
Parking is Prohibited or Limited”
