2. This print advert for Catfish The TV Show is simplistic with a plain white background which
emphasizes the focus on the protagonist. Direct mode of address has been used to create a
connection with the audience and draw focus towards the advert. The use of ‘seeing the
protagonist through the smartphone camera’ displays the emphasis of technology throughout
the TV show and also displays that individuals are being portrayed through their technology
and perhaps this is not who they really are. The recognizable brand logo is in the top left
corner below the channel logo in which the TV show is played on. This is again simplistic and
does not jump out as being the main part of the advert, but is placed to re-enforce the logo in
the audience’s mind and emphasize their brand identity.
3. • This is a screenshot from Catfish the TV Show’s moving image advert. I
screenshotted this because I particularly liked the pixel effect that has been
used to display the emphasis on technology in the program. This could also
display that we are seeing people through their technology which may not
be who they actually are. This is an effect which I would like to experiment
with for my ancillary product as I feel it depicts the ideology of the TV show
well and is effective in doing so.
