Fold mountains - History
Formed 30 - 40
million years ago
Compressional margin,
the mountains so
severely folded that
anticlines, synclines,
over folds and nappes
were all formed.
The Alps were then
altered 10,000 years
ago during the last
ice age.
Human Activity -Summary
Farming - mainly
valley bottoms -
dairying, vines, hay
and cereals.
Summer pasture on
the high alps.
Tourism - skiing,
climbing, walking
and sightseeing.
Hydroelectric
Power
