Scene 1- Handicap, Assistant and Person
(located in the streets)
Everyone enters

Person: Excuse me sir!
(handicap and assistant don’t answer)
Person: Excuse me Sir! Sir!
(handicap and assistant don’t answer)
Assistant: I’m very sorry but this person here is affected by Locked- in syndrome, he can’t speak
Person: (looking very sad) Oh I’m so sorry, I didn’t know. What a terrible thing!

Scene 2- Doctor
(located in an hospital)

Doctor: Unfortunately, Locked-in Syndrome is a condition in which a patient is aware and awake
but cannot move or communicate verbally due to complete paralysis of nearly all voluntary muscles
in the body except for the eyes. Consequently they will live their lives on a chair, without
communicating to anyone. However, technology today, made us discover Dasher! (Sound effect).
Dasher is an input method and computer accessibility tool which enables users to write without
using a keyboard, by entering text on a screen using a pointing device such as a mouse, a touchpad,
a touch screen, a roller ball, a joystick, a Push-button, a Wii Remote, or even mice operated by the
foot or head. Such instruments could serve as prosthetic devices for disabled people who cannot use
standard keyboards, or where the use of one is impractical. In addition, the computer has also a
function that it reads the words out loud, this is used for the people who are not able to speak.
Scene 3-Handicap, Person
(located in the streets)
(handicap is already in the scene, Person enters)

Person: Excuse me Sir!
Handicap: (computer voice) yes
Person: Do you know where I can find the nearest library in the town?
Handicap: (computer voice) Absolutely. 600 metres from our actual position. It is calculated to be
in Via Spagnoletto 25
Person: Thanks a lot Sir!
Handicap: (computer voice) Thanks to you! It is the first time, I have a conversation with someone.

Scene 4- Doctor
(located in hospital) (happy music in background)

Doctor: Thanks to Dasher every person in the world that suffers from Locked-in Syndrome is now
free to speak and live a normal life!
Process Journal

This is the first layout of the iMovie page. The
next thing to do is to add the video to the main
page and edit it.

I added the video by importing it from my
camera through a USB cable. Then, I went on
my last importations and found the video. Now,
I will need to make the video.
Now, by clicking on the “T” under the video
option, I added a content, then chose “industrial”
and dragged it to the window on the top left.
Then I selected them and added two titles.

Next, I dragged the first part of the video,
containing my first scene. The audio is already
included; therefore no further audio needs to be
included.

Again, by clicking on the “T” under the video
option, I added a content, then chose “industrial”
and dragged it to the window on the top left.
Then I selected them and added two titles
I then dragged another scene from the bottom to
the top left window. It automatically displayed in
the chronological order.

Again, by clicking on the “T” under the video
option, I added a content, then chose “industrial”
and dragged it to the window on the top left.
Then I selected them and added two titles

After that, I chose to put the scene of the
doctor’s explanation. Again, the audio was
already included.

Again, by clicking on the “T” under the video
option, I added a content, then chose “industrial”
and dragged it to the window on the top left.
Then I selected them and added two titles

Again, I dragged the scene where the patient has
now the use of Dasher
This time I dragged the same scene three times
because I will need to add the audio later of a
computer audio

After I dragged the last scenes where I thank the
person.

I dragged the last scene of my video. Now I need
to put the credits and then finally add some
music to my video and it is finished

Again, by clicking on the “T” under the video
option, I added a content, then chose “industrial”
and dragged it to the window on the top left.
Then I selected them and added two titles

For the registration, I clicked on the microphone
symbol right above the bottom window. Then I
clicked on the record button that appeared and
recorded the computer speaking.
Then, I added music from my Mac. To do this I
clicked on the music button, just above the top
right window. Then I dragged the music I chose
under the scene I wanted.

Again, I added music from my Mac. To do this I
clicked on the music button, just above the top
right window. Then I dragged the music I chose
under the scene I wanted.

Again, I added music from my Mac. To do this I
clicked on the music button, just above the top
right window. Then I dragged the music I chose
under the scene I wanted.

Again, I added music from my Mac. To do this I
clicked on the music button, just above the top
right window. Then I dragged the music I chose
under the scene I wanted.

Finally I clicked the exporting option of my movie
under “condivision”

Maybe next time,
include some type of
animation in general,
however, this shouldn’t
distract the reader
All the scenes were
relative to the video. To
improve this, maybe
add other scenes in
other places
There is little text, so
maybe next time add
more text relevant to
the content of the video
The text is white on a
black background,
therefore maybe next
time add more colour to
the video
This doesn’t have any
type of animation. Next
time, continue like this
This is because there is
no text during the
scenes. Therefore, next
time this could be
improved as well
It is simple and linear.
Maybe too simple. Next
time add more scene to
improve
All the language is
correct. To improve
maybe augment the
relevance to the content
and explain better
things.
It is not offensive. To
improve, add more
scenes of seriousness
It doesn’t include

simple to understand

YES

It has the right and
appropriate information

YES

It must be persuasive

There is no sound
interference during the
entire video

The scenes are
appropriate for each age
group. They are not too
exagerated

Maybe next time answer
better the question
Where?

NO

The sound must be clear as
well as the content of the
video

YES

It must be informative and
interesting

YES

The information must be
longer than the acting

YES

I don’t think my video is
persuasive. Next time
include some opinions
of people affected by
Locked in Syndrome

The video is very
informative. Next time
make it more
interesting
The scene with the
doctor explaining the
information was the
longest, therefore it was
longer than the acting.

Evaluation of Test Table
This test table is the result where I can say that my video has been successful. In fact, it answers
many of the points wrote in it. Also, I suggested almost for every point, what to improve. This is
because I always want to make my work professional, and better than the result I have, which is
positive. Also, I had some points I will need to improve a lot because I didn’t answer it. For
example, next time I will need to include images in my shots. This was a point not answered in my
test table.

Evaluation of Survey
From the results of my survey, based on the opinion of twelve people of different age groups, I
believe that my video was a success. However, some points were negative. For example I
understood that I needed to include some more things in some part, rather than some things in
others. For example, I encountered that six people said that shots were too little; therefore I will
need to augment them in future. In addition, I didn’t include any type of image; therefore twelve
people agreed that this was a scares result. Therefore I will add more images in future. In addition, I
also had many positive results were all twelve people agreed that I had the things. As a conclusion,
I can say that it has more positive than negative results, but the negative results would have been
easy to delete.

Evaluation of Project
After making questionnaires and surveys, I understood that to make a good video, firstly, is
important to test it and to hear other people’s opinions on it. At the start I thought of other ways to
make a video, however, I understood, by checking it, that my video’s ideas weren’t very important
or didn’t track attention to my audience, who wanted pictures to it. I think also it is very important
to ask an expert their opinion, especially ErmeteGrilli because he is a professional video maker and
so I need to listen on his opinions about my work. I also asked Luca Malerba, since he is an I.C.T
expert, what were the best programs to create a video. This was very important for me to know,
because I thought that the best program was Windows Movie Maker, but actually there are two very
good programs. I decided at the end to create it on iMovie because I use mainly MAC programs
because my computer is an iMac, so, I already knew the basic structure of it and I didn’t need to
spend hours on learning how to use another program. I, however, watched some videos on how to
make certain tips iMovie to become more expert on the program.
My questionnaires said that I should include pictures related to the theme. I decided not to include
pictures because I wanted to give more attention to actors and the content because I think they are
more important and effective than pictures because they give a better idea on what the theme and
the purpose of my video is. However, some could have been used as a background to some writing
in some scenes. I decided to use music in some scene as background because tit is a very important
factor. I used music because I analysed some videos and learned that the most popularones or the
ones that were more professionaldecided to include music at a certain point as background. I took
this example from smosh and other YouTube channels; I also used it because in a questionnaire I
was told to include music in my video. I think that especially the content had a good impact on
others it was serious and I think it promoted very well my chosen technology. However, next time,
it would have been a good idea to use better my actors, maybe include more other actors in my
video to make it even more realistic. I think that, however, the music didn’t have a good impact on
the audience because it didn’t attract much attention as I thought it had done, partly because it
wasn’t necessary, and partly because the content is standing in front of it. Maybe the audience gave
more importance to the actors than to the content. Next time I should give more importance to it and
make it sound louder. Another thing that had a good impact on the others was my scene where the
doctor explained the product. I thought it was a good idea to put it, and actually it had a lot of
success. This made however, the video’spurpose become less important; this didn’t have a good
impact on others.
Overall my video had an equal number of good and bad impacts on the environment. Some things
are ought to improve and others were just good ideas and predictions that I liked to include. I think
that our environment was generally happy and thought that my work was interesting, however they
didn’t understand some choices I included in my video. Certainly, I am proud of my creation and
had a good impact on me. However, next time I need to improve some ideas and make a better
video to advertise my chosen technology of “Dasher”.
I think I worked well throughout all of the design cycle because I feel I can be proud of my work
and aim for a very high mark. Overall, not to seem modest, I liked my assessment, however there
are some parts that can be improved, like at any work. In the investigation part I liked my research
because I learnt many things, such as the Locked-in Syndrome, and some tips to make a good
video. I also liked my design brief. Next time I need to improve my design specification, maybe by
adding some more things that are more important than the ones I wrote. Also my test plan table can
be improved. I believe that the design part wasn’t really sophisticated because I don’t have much
imagination so my video is a bit banal. However, the analysis of it and the interpretation of each
one I made make me proud of my work but next time I will improve my video’s style. Like the
design stage, my plan part was very good in the analysis, but mediocre in the Gantt chart. I believe
it is good, but it misses something that I don’t know, it seems incomplete. Also my other plan it is
very detailed, but I believe I should have written more inside the table. The create bit I liked my
process journal, the content of it and all the information I gave. Again my video isn’t one of the
best, but at least I justified my actions. I also justified my changes in the creation phase. I believe
that my evaluation part, not only this one, but also the evaluation of designs, sources, plans,
information are very detailed and tell everything I made and that I can improve.

  • 1. Creation Stage Script Actors: Doctor/Assistant Handicap Person Scene 1- Handicap, Assistant and Person (located in the streets) Everyone enters Person: Excuse me sir! (handicap and assistant don’t answer) Person: Excuse me Sir! Sir! (handicap and assistant don’t answer) Assistant: I’m very sorry but this person here is affected by Locked- in syndrome, he can’t speak Person: (looking very sad) Oh I’m so sorry, I didn’t know. What a terrible thing! Scene 2- Doctor (located in an hospital) Doctor: Unfortunately, Locked-in Syndrome is a condition in which a patient is aware and awake but cannot move or communicate verbally due to complete paralysis of nearly all voluntary muscles in the body except for the eyes. Consequently they will live their lives on a chair, without communicating to anyone. However, technology today, made us discover Dasher! (Sound effect). Dasher is an input method and computer accessibility tool which enables users to write without using a keyboard, by entering text on a screen using a pointing device such as a mouse, a touchpad, a touch screen, a roller ball, a joystick, a Push-button, a Wii Remote, or even mice operated by the foot or head. Such instruments could serve as prosthetic devices for disabled people who cannot use standard keyboards, or where the use of one is impractical. In addition, the computer has also a function that it reads the words out loud, this is used for the people who are not able to speak.
  • 2. Scene 3-Handicap, Person (located in the streets) (handicap is already in the scene, Person enters) Person: Excuse me Sir! It is calculated to be in Via Spagnoletto 25 Person: Thanks a lot Sir! Handicap: (computer voice) Thanks to you! It is the first time, I have a conversation with someone. Scene 4- Doctor (located in hospital) (happy music in background) Doctor: Thanks to Dasher every person in the world that suffers from Locked-in Syndrome is now free to speak and live a normal life!
  • 3. Process Journal This is the first layout of the iMovie page. The next thing to do is to add the video to the main page and edit it. I added the video by importing it from my camera through a USB cable. Then, I went on my last importations and found the video. Now, I will need to make the video. Now, by clicking on the “T” under the video option, I added a content, then chose “industrial” and dragged it to the window on the top left. Then I selected them and added two titles. Next, I dragged the first part of the video, containing my first scene. The audio is already included; therefore no further audio needs to be included. Again, by clicking on the “T” under the video option, I added a content, then chose “industrial” and dragged it to the window on the top left. Then I selected them and added two titles
  • 4. I then dragged another scene from the bottom to the top left window. It automatically displayed in the chronological order. Again, by clicking on the “T” under the video option, I added a content, then chose “industrial” and dragged it to the window on the top left. Then I selected them and added two titles After that, I chose to put the scene of the doctor’s explanation. Again, the audio was already included. Again, by clicking on the “T” under the video option, I added a content, then chose “industrial” and dragged it to the window on the top left. Then I selected them and added two titles Again, I dragged the scene where the patient has now the use of Dasher
  • 5. This time I dragged the same scene three times because I will need to add the audio later of a computer audio After I dragged the last scenes where I thank the person. I dragged the last scene of my video. Now I need to put the credits and then finally add some music to my video and it is finished Again, by clicking on the “T” under the video option, I added a content, then chose “industrial” and dragged it to the window on the top left. Then I selected them and added two titles For the registration, I clicked on the microphone symbol right above the bottom window. Then I clicked on the record button that appeared and recorded the computer speaking.
  • 6. Then, I added music from my Mac. To do this I clicked on the music button, just above the top right window. Then I dragged the music I chose under the scene I wanted. Again, I added music from my Mac. To do this I clicked on the music button, just above the top right window. Then I dragged the music I chose under the scene I wanted. Again, I added music from my Mac. To do this I clicked on the music button, just above the top right window. Then I dragged the music I chose under the scene I wanted. Again, I added music from my Mac. To do this I clicked on the music button, just above the top right window. Then I dragged the music I chose under the scene I wanted. Finally I clicked the exporting option of my movie under “condivision”
  • 7. Evaluation TEST TABLE YES Animation shouldn’t distract the audience from watching the video YES Scenes should be relevant to the video YES It must not have an illegible font type (if writing is included). YES It must not have an illegible font colour (if writing is included). YES The context mustn’t have any type of animation YES The background must not do any interference with the written text the text YES The video mustn’t be too complicated YES The content mustn’t have any form of inappropriate language YES It must not be offensive YES It must not include spelling mistakes The background shouldn’t distract the audience YES It must not include grammar mistakes YES NO WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO IMPROVE NEXT TIME? Maybe next time, include some type of animation in general, however, this shouldn’t distract the reader All the scenes were relative to the video. To improve this, maybe add other scenes in other places There is little text, so maybe next time add more text relevant to the content of the video The text is white on a black background, therefore maybe next time add more colour to the video This doesn’t have any type of animation. Next time, continue like this This is because there is no text during the scenes. Therefore, next time this could be improved as well It is simple and linear. Maybe too simple. Next time add more scene to improve All the language is correct. To improve maybe augment the relevance to the content and explain better things. It is not offensive. To improve, add more scenes of seriousness It doesn’t include spelling mistakes and the background doesn’t distract the reader
  • 8. It must not be used to advertise something NO It must not have subliminal messages YES It must not have wrong information YES It must not have an illegible font size (if writing is included). Maybe it advertises the technology I used. Maybe next time, I will add more scenes explaining about the disease rather than about Dasher YES Pictures mustn’t be enormous Next time write more specific information NO No pictures are included. Maybe add picture about the technology in some scenes The parts of the video aren’t always the same All parts of video mustn’t have different sizes YES Shots mustn’t be too big YES They are very simple and easy to comprehend The video mustn’t occupy a good part of the pixels, so the size should be minimum YES This is because there is little animation and the scenes are simple The shots must not be too small YES Sound effects must not occupy the entire video YES They only occupy the part where there is a pause in the video or a change of scene It must respect the copyright law. YES All information isn’t illegal and what we said is our information, which is correct The size must be appropriate to read YES It must be divided into sections YES There are different sections of scenes. The information must be clear and simple to understand YES The information was well explained by the actor who played the part of the doctor No images are included. Maybe add picture about the technology in some scenes It must have some images. NO
  • 9. The images must be the appropriate size NO It must be easy to listen YES It must not be too long YES It must be appropriate for a range of people (from young to mature) YES The video must have the right size to be seen YES It includes sound YES It must include a title YES It answers all the five W YES The video must be clear and simple to understand YES It has the right and appropriate information YES It must be persuasive There is no sound interference during the entire video The scenes are appropriate for each age group. They are not too exagerated Maybe next time answer better the question Where? NO The sound must be clear as well as the content of the video YES It must be informative and interesting YES The information must be longer than the acting YES I don’t think my video is persuasive. Next time include some opinions of people affected by Locked in Syndrome The video is very informative. Next time make it more interesting The scene with the doctor explaining the information was the longest, therefore it was longer than the acting. Evaluation of Test Table This test table is the result where I can say that my video has been successful. In fact, it answers many of the points wrote in it. Also, I suggested almost for every point, what to improve. This is because I always want to make my work professional, and better than the result I have, which is
  • 10. positive. Also, I had some points I will need to improve a lot because I didn’t answer it. For example, next time I will need to include images in my shots. This was a point not answered in my test table. DOES IT INCLUDE THIS INFORMATION? • 12. Evaluation of Survey From the results of my survey, based on the opinion of twelve people of different age groups, I believe that my video was a success. However, some points were negative. For example I understood that I needed to include some more things in some part, rather than some things in others. For example, I encountered that six people said that shots were too little; therefore I will need to augment them in future. In addition, I didn’t include any type of image; therefore twelve people agreed that this was a scares result. Therefore I will add more images in future. In addition, I also had many positive results were all twelve people agreed that I had the things. As a conclusion, I can say that it has more positive than negative results, but the negative results would have been easy to delete. Evaluation of Project After making questionnaires and surveys, I understood that to make a good video, firstly, is important to test it and to hear other people’s opinions on it. At the start I thought of other ways to make a video, however, I understood, by checking it, that my video’s ideas weren’t very important or didn’t track attention to my audience, who wanted pictures to it. I think also it is very important to ask an expert their opinion, especially ErmeteGrilli because he is a professional video maker and so I need to listen on his opinions about my work. I also asked Luca Malerba, since he is an I.C.T expert, what were the best programs to create a video. This was very important for me to know, because I thought that the best program was Windows Movie Maker, but actually there are two very good programs. I decided at the end to create it on iMovie because I use mainly MAC programs because my computer is an iMac, so, I already knew the basic structure of it and I didn’t need to spend hours on learning how to use another program. I, however, watched some videos on how to make certain tips iMovie to become more expert on the program. My questionnaires said that I should include pictures related to the theme. I decided not to include pictures because I wanted to give more attention to actors and the content because I think they are more important and effective than pictures because they give a better idea on what the theme and the purpose of my video is. However, some could have been used as a background to some writing in some scenes. I decided to use music in some scene as background because tit is a very important factor. I used music because I analysed some videos and learned that the most popularones or the ones that were more professionaldecided to include music at a certain point as background. I took this example from smosh and other YouTube channels; I also used it because in a questionnaire I
  • 13. was told to include music in my video. I think that especially the content had a good impact on others it was serious and I think it promoted very well my chosen technology. However, next time, it would have been a good idea to use better my actors, maybe include more other actors in my video to make it even more realistic. I think that, however, the music didn’t have a good impact on the audience because it didn’t attract much attention as I thought it had done, partly because it wasn’t necessary, and partly because the content is standing in front of it. Maybe the audience gave more importance to the actors than to the content. Next time I should give more importance to it and make it sound louder. Another thing that had a good impact on the others was my scene where the doctor explained the product. I thought it was a good idea to put it, and actually it had a lot of success. This made however, the video’spurpose become less important; this didn’t have a good impact on others. Overall my video had an equal number of good and bad impacts on the environment. Some things are ought to improve and others were just good ideas and predictions that I liked to include. I think that our environment was generally happy and thought that my work was interesting, however they didn’t understand some choices I included in my video. Certainly, I am proud of my creation and had a good impact on me. However, next time I need to improve some ideas and make a better video to advertise my chosen technology of “Dasher”. I think I worked well throughout all of the design cycle because I feel I can be proud of my work and aim for a very high mark. Overall, not to seem modest, I liked my assessment, however there are some parts that can be improved, like at any work. In the investigation part I liked my research because I learnt many things, such as the Locked-in Syndrome, and some tips to make a good video. I also liked my design brief. Next time I need to improve my design specification, maybe by adding some more things that are more important than the ones I wrote. Also my test plan table can be improved. I believe that the design part wasn’t really sophisticated because I don’t have much imagination so my video is a bit banal. However, the analysis of it and the interpretation of each one I made make me proud of my work but next time I will improve my video’s style. Like the design stage, my plan part was very good in the analysis, but mediocre in the Gantt chart. I believe it is good, but it misses something that I don’t know, it seems incomplete. Also my other plan it is very detailed, but I believe I should have written more inside the table. The create bit I liked my process journal, the content of it and all the information I gave. Again my video isn’t one of the best, but at least I justified my actions. I also justified my changes in the creation phase. I believe that my evaluation part, not only this one, but also the evaluation of designs, sources, plans, information are very detailed and tell everything I made and that I can improve.
