The document describes the process of creating a digipak for a single album release. First, an iconic image from the music video was chosen for the back cover to represent the song's meaning. Next, the record label logo was added to the bottom right, matching other artists' designs. A barcode was then placed on the right side for realism. Finally, small print with promotion details and a songlist were added to complete the digipak design in Photoshop and Illustrator.
2. First I had to chose an image I
wanted for my digipak. I chose
to have this image for my
digipak back cover because it
was a shot from my music video
and I think that it is quite an
iconic scene in my music video
but also sums up the meaning
of the song giving the audience
a brief idea what the song
meaning is going to be about. I
also decided that when making
my digipak I will be using
Photoshop which is a program I
have used a lot in the past.
3. Then I found an image of
my record label that I will
be using and I placed it
on my digipak. I chose to
put it on the bottom right
because after looking at
other artists CDs on that
record label most of their
back covers have the
Bridge Nine record label
logo on the bottom of
the cover.
4. After finding a logo for
my record label to put on
my digipak I then found a
barcode to put on my
digipak to make it look a
lot more realistic to real
digipak products. I again
placed this on the right
hand side of my digipak so
it would line to with my
logo which is on the
bottom right of my
digipak.
5. After adding the barcode and
logo of my record company I
then added some small print on
the bottom of my digipak. I
chose to do this because after
looking at other products I
realised that they had this small
print or something along the
lines of what I have written. I
chose to promote my bands
record label, website but also the
store where you can buy
merchandise for my band. I did
this because I think it’s a good
use of marketing for my bands
image.
6. After adding all the realistic elements to
my digipak I then added the songs
which would be on the album. As my
album is a single I had to make up
names for the songs on the album.
Usually singles have extended
versions, remix's of the single along
with the single version of the song so I
have chosen to keep this when making
my digipak. To create the writing I used
dafont and illustrator because I was able
to editing the size of my writing
without pixilating the font but also the
writing was unique to dafont and there
wasn’t any writing which had the bold
edgy font which is iconic to the record
company Bridge Nine use with their
other bands.
