This parable is about luck and chance in regards to winning the lottery. It uses the metaphor of a blindfolded person throwing horseshoes towards stakes in the ground on a lawn to represent randomly picking lottery numbers. The master tells the student that luck is outside of one's control like the randomly placed stakes, but that they can decide where to focus their efforts by choosing their lottery numbers strategically rather than changing them constantly.
