1. EVENT INVITATION:
One Health Biomanufacturing Summit &
Industry Expo
Thursday, March 8, 2012
Johnson County Community College
OBJECTIVE: People, animals, and our environment are all connected -- creating dynamic, profound and unprecedented
challenges. The One Health concept is an approach to encourage collaborative, multi-disciplinary efforts locally, nationally
and globally to obtain optimal health for humans, animals and our environment. The One Health Biomanufacturing Summit
brings together the region’s thought leaders to uncover best-in-class strategies and practices needed to thrive in an increasingly
competitive environment.
The 2012 Summit is being sponsored by SAFC and other bioscience industry companies, research enterprises and
organizations. Prior Summits attracted 150 attendees, with topics covering the One Health regional impact, manufacturing
strategies, regulatory issues and the future of cell-culture production. With capacity available for 200 attendees in 2012,
speakers and topics will appeal to a broad audience of senior level industry professionals working within manufacturing, process
development and product operations.
FORMAT: The Summit combines podium presentation and panel discussions to allow our subject matter experts to share best
practices and lead discussions about some of the most important issues impacting our respective industry sectors. Podium
presenters are combined in groups of three or four, and a moderator leads the introductions for each speaker and the resulting
panel discussion.
In 2012, we will once again have two concurrent sessions: “Applying the One Health Approach”
and “Biomanufacturing & Animal Health to appeal to a broad range of attendees. One track presented a big picture
overview of the One Health Approach, and the other track provided a more deep-reaching look at best practices.
PODIUM PRESENTATIONS: Each expert prepares and present a 20 minute podium presentation related to their
area of expertise.
PANEL DISCUSSIONS: Following his podium presentation and those by the other panelists, each of the speakers
joins in a moderated panel discussion with the audience.
