Workspace is a web client that provides the user interface for viewing and interacting
with content created with Hyperion EPM application. It provides management
reporting, query, and analysis capabilities for a wide variety of data sources in a single
coordinated environment.

Hyperion Shared Services (Shared Services) provides a central framework for
creating, provisioning, and maintaining users; managing user security across all
Hyperion modules, including external authentication. Additionally, Shared Services
now provides the capability of managing the lifecycle of Oracle's Enterprise
Performance Management suite: migrating artifacts from development to test to
production environments.

BISP | Hyperion 11.1.1.3 Installation guide | Presented By Rupam Majumdar 34
Select Web Server

Select the Web server.

Port

Specify the Web server port. If you enable SSL, make sure the port number you enter
is a secure port.

SSL Enabled

Select whether to enable SSL.

Location of Web Server

Specify or browse to the location of the Web server.

This field is not required if you are using IIS.

Component

Enable the check box adjacent to each module to integrate with EPM Workspace.

Host

For each enabled module, review the host name to which this Web server will proxy
requests.

Context

Review the context path. The context path is the part of the URL that accesses the
deployed Web application. For example, in the following URL, workspace is the
context path:

http://yourservername:19000/workspace

Port

Review the port numbers for the application server listen ports for the applications.
The port here must match the listen port of the deployed application. For Embedded
Java Container, this port is the AJP listen port, not the HTTP listen port.
Step 7) Essbase Server Configuration
BISP | Hyperion 11.1.1.3 Installation guide | Presented By Rupam Majumdar 35
Oracle Essbase is the industry-leading OLAP (online analytical processing) server.
Oracle Essbase provides an environment for rapidly developing custom analytic and
enterprise performance management applications. With a rapid application
development environment that is managed by the business, Oracle Essbase enables
the business to quickly model complex business scenarios.

BISP | Hyperion 11.1.1.3 Installation guide | Presented By Rupam Majumdar 36
Agent Port Number

Accept the default port number on which the Essbase Server listens for client
requests. If you change the default value, be sure to enter a port number that is not
used by other programs.

The port value is stored in essbase.cfg.

Start Port

Enter the first port number that Essbase Server tries to use to connect.

End Port

Enter the highest port number that Essbase Server can use to connect.

Essbase uses at least two ports for each application. For a large number of
applications, you need a larger port range.

Step 8)
Configure Financial Management DCOM

Short for Distributed Component Object Model, an extension of theComponent Object
Model (COM) that allows COM components to communicate
across network boundaries. Traditional COM components can only perform
interprocess communication across process boundaries on the same machine. DCOM
uses the RPC mechanism to transparently send and receive information between
COM components (i.e., clients and servers) on the same network. DCOM was first
made available in 1995 with the initial release of Windows NT 4.

BISP | Hyperion 11.1.1.3 Installation guide | Presented By Rupam Majumdar 38
Domain User
Specify the user name.

By default, EPM System Configurator lists the user name for the user who is logged in
and running EPM System Configurator.

Note these limitations for the domain and user name:

        • A user name cannot duplicate any other user or group name of the
computer being administered. A user name can contain up to 20 uppercase
and lowercase letters. A user name cannot consist solely of periods ( . ) and
            spaces and cannot contain these special characters: " ‘ / [ ] : ; | = , + * ? <
            >&
        • Do not use a single quotation mark ( ‘ ) in a user name. A user with a single
quotation mark in the user name cannot log on to Financial Management.
        • You cannot use an IP address as a domain name when you configure the
            user account.

Password :

Enter the password. The password can contain up to 14 characters and is case-
sensitive. The system does not verify the password, so ensure that the password that
you use is valid.

If the entries that you make require changing the local security policy on the
system, you must log off and log on again to commit the changes.

Re type Password :

Enter the password again to confirm it.

BISP | Hyperion 11.1.1.3 Installation guide | Presented By Rupam Majumdar 39
Enable DCOM on this machine

Select to enable DCOM on this machine.

This option is available for the Application services and Web tier installation
of Financial Management. This option is not available if DCOM is already
enabled on the computer.

This option enables DCOM for the entire computer. Enabling DCOM makes
possible the launching of servers and connecting to objects by remote
clients for the machine. It also sets the DCOM Default Authentication level
to None for the computer. The Enable DCOM step is required for Financial
Management client components to communicate with Financial
Management application server components when the application server is
on a different computer. It also enables the Financial Management client
and application server computers to be on different domains.

BISP | Hyperion 11.1.1.3 Installation guide | Presented By Rupam Majumdar 40
Step 9) Configuration of Financial Management Application server

Max App Server Delay

Accept the default value or enter the time interval in seconds between when a
change is made to an application and when the change is visible to users accessing
the application through another application server.

Max Data Sync Delay

Accept the default value or enter the time interval in seconds between when a
change is made to data and when the change is visible to users accessing the data
through another application server.

BISP | Hyperion 11.1.1.3 Installation guide | Presented By Rupam Majumdar 41
Working Folder

Accept the default, or enter or browse to the path for the Server Working Folder.

The Server Working folder stores system-generated files, such as reports. The default
Server Working Folder location is: HYPERION_HOME/products/FinancialManagement/
Server Working Folder.

Step 10) Configure Financial Management – server / cluster

An application server cluster is a set of application servers running the same
application.
Clustered application servers provide load balancing and failover capability and
enable the servers to be transparently maintained while applications remain available
for users.

BISP | Hyperion 11.1.1.3 Installation guide | Presented By Rupam Majumdar 44
Defined Clusters

Select the cluster for which you want to specify servers.

This list displays all clusters you have specified on any machine in the
installation.

You can also add, edit, or remove a cluster.

EPM System creates a default cluster if none exist.

Upgrade Note!

This list displays all clusters that you configured in the previous release. If
no clusters exist, EPM System Configurator creates a default cluster.

You must use cluster names that are the same as the instance names that
were used for Financial Management configuration in the previous release.

The Dimension Library is for holding metadata on the shared and local dimensions
used by EPMA-enabled applications

BISP | Hyperion 11.1.1.3 Installation guide | Presented By Rupam Majumdar 71
Dimensions describe an organization’s data, und usually contain groups of
related members.
Member of Dimensions are arranged in hierarchies.
Upper level members are called Parent members, and member immediately
below of a parent is its child.
All members below of parents are called descendants.
The bottom level members are called base-level members.
Financial Management supplies eight system defined dimensions. We can
customize the members of each dimension to meet the needs of your organization.
The system defined dimensions are :

Scenario, Year, Period, View, Entity, Value, Accounts, Intercompany partner

This is the Dimension Library where all system defined dimensions are shown and
user can create own defined dimensions also.

A Data Synchronization Engine, for loading data (numbers) into EPMA-managed

An Application Library, for holding definitions of the various Essbase, Planning and
HFM applications EPMA manages
BISP | Hyperion 11.1.1.3 Installation guide | Presented By Rupam Majumdar 73
When we need to work on some EPMA application we need to create a application.
During creation of application user can customize the Dimension, Rules set etc.
Application library shows all the application lists created till now. When we select
some application all the related information regarding the application like Name,
Type, Creation date, Last deployment date, Status etc are shown in Application
Library. Apart from that the dimensions, Rules, Synchronization status are given too.

Step 8) Configure Financial Management DCOM Short for Distributed Component Object Model, an extension of theComponent Object Model (COM) that allows COM components to communicate across network boundaries. Traditional COM components can only perform interprocess communication across process boundaries on the same machine. DCOM uses the RPC mechanism to transparently send and receive information between COM components (i.e., clients and servers) on the same network. DCOM was first made available in 1995 with the initial release of Windows NT 4. BISP | Hyperion 11.1.1.3 Installation guide | Presented By Rupam Majumdar 38
  • 39. Domain User Specify the user name. By default, EPM System Configurator lists the user name for the user who is logged in and running EPM System Configurator. Note these limitations for the domain and user name: • A user name cannot duplicate any other user or group name of the computer being administered. A user name can contain up to 20 uppercase and lowercase letters. A user name cannot consist solely of periods ( . ) and spaces and cannot contain these special characters: " ‘ / [ ] : ; | = , + * ? < >& • Do not use a single quotation mark ( ‘ ) in a user name. A user with a single quotation mark in the user name cannot log on to Financial Management. • You cannot use an IP address as a domain name when you configure the user account. Password : Enter the password. The password can contain up to 14 characters and is case- sensitive. The system does not verify the password, so ensure that the password that you use is valid. If the entries that you make require changing the local security policy on the system, you must log off and log on again to commit the changes. Re type Password : Enter the password again to confirm it. BISP | Hyperion 11.1.1.3 Installation guide | Presented By Rupam Majumdar 39
  • 40. Enable DCOM on this machine Select to enable DCOM on this machine. This option is available for the Application services and Web tier installation of Financial Management. This option is not available if DCOM is already enabled on the computer. This option enables DCOM for the entire computer. Enabling DCOM makes possible the launching of servers and connecting to objects by remote clients for the machine. It also sets the DCOM Default Authentication level to None for the computer. The Enable DCOM step is required for Financial Management client components to communicate with Financial Management application server components when the application server is on a different computer. It also enables the Financial Management client and application server computers to be on different domains. BISP | Hyperion 11.1.1.3 Installation guide | Presented By Rupam Majumdar 40
