 Channel Idents is one way a channel makes their
channel more unique and stick out from the rest.
idents are a form of advertisements for the
channel itself promoting the shows they make.
The idents are a form of guidance for the viewer
as they conventionally inform the audience about
upcoming shows and the scheduling of the rest of
the days broadcast. Channels need to make their
idents popular just like a viral video because that
way they can stay in the interests of their
viewers. Conventionally channel idents use a voice
over promoting the upcoming shows, the iconic
logo of the channel and a short clip to support
the channels information. Most of these channel
idents use visual representations to support the
voice over just incase the viewer did not quite
understand. These channel idents also make sure
their brand is very dominate to indicate the target
audience of the channel.
 Many channels have a fixed target
audience and by broadcasting their aimed
audience viewers can become acquainted
with the shows aimed at them.
 Channels like ‘E4’ tend to aim there brand
at 16+ as majority of the shows are
relative to there chosen audience.
If you click the image , you can see that ‘E4’
uses the iconic logo representing ‘E4’ the
short film doesn't explain much but you
can tell what target audience they are
aiming at as the objects seen within the
short are relative to what 16+ people are
interested in.
 BBC range there audience to the older
generation as the younger generation are
not interested in the shows broadcasted
as they maybe come across as formal
and mature.
 In the short Channel Ident you can tell its
for an older range as it doesn't have to
flaunt images to advertise whereas they
used a voice over to explain the upcoming
show.
 Many channels are in competition and the
best way to get views and ratings is to
advertise there own shows via a channel
ident.
 A channel ident makes the channel unique
and makes the channel iconic.
 Its also a good way to show their
creatively and prove to the audience they
can improve by making better ones than
the previous.
 If an Ident becomes almost viral the
company will rise in popularity. And once
popular the viewers will want more but
better. Channels struggle to advance on
previous creations.
 Good idents are also good for other
channels to take inspiration from and
advance it .
 W hen making a channel ident channels
have to make sure that the ident is
acceptable. Channels have to make sure
the audience wont take offence,
understand the proceedings, and make
sure it grabs the attention of the viewers.
 Taking the main 3 into consideration all
should go well but make sure its quick
and to the point!
