3. Choose from a 1 year AS or a 2 year A2 You will study 3 units in Year 12 to get your AS and then you have the option to study a further 3 units in Year 13 for your A2

5. Unit 1 Inside Travel and Tourism Learn about the history of tourism, the types of holidays people take and who the big (and not so big!) players in the industry are.

6. Unit 2 A People Industry When did you receive great customer service? Learn about how companies train their staff to deliver top quality service for 100% of the time.

7. Unit 3 Travel Destinations You might have been on holiday to lots of places, but how much do you know about those destinations? Take on the role of a holiday rep to sell the resort!

8. T&T covers such a wide range of areas that there is something in it for everybody. It combines well with many subjects, such as Business Studies and Geography. Who Studies Travel and Tourism?

9. Travel and Tourism is NOT an easy option, but there are some practical bits which most students really enjoy….. What are the best bits? What are they then?

10. 1 Visiting Companies For Unit 2, Year 12s have visited the Novotel in York where they were given a tour by the manager and then a free choice of food from the lunch menu. (Including dessert!) This will be extended to include a short work experience visit to a company this year.

11. 2 Being a Rep If you’ve ever been on a package holiday you’ll know all about the rep’s welcome speech. For unit 3 you have to plan, prepare and present a rep’s welcome speech on a destination you have been studying. It sounds scary, but everybody enjoys it (afterwards!)

12. 3 Running an Event Got a great idea for a money making event? In this unit you have to plan and run an event. Previous events have included a race night at a local venue, a full day trip for foreign students and one group even took over a local restaurant and ran a Thai night, complete with food they had cooked themselves! You could even arrange a trip abroad!

13. Where Does it Lead? T&T can lead to all sorts of exciting opportunities. You might choose to work in the industry after 6 th form, or study a related subject at university.
