1. Frequency of publication
My magazine will be published monthly
to allow the magazines to continue
appearing "current" to consumers even
after they have been on sale for some time
(since not all magazines will be sold
immediately) this will mean more people
have chance to buy it. The magazine will
contain 98 pages. Also publishing monthly
magazines means that they can be jam
packed with information and articles that
will keep the readers wanting more. This
will also have an impact on the price as
people will be willing to spend more on
something they don’t buy often for
example a weekly magazine will cost
around £2.90 where as my magazine will
cost £5.45 because I believe this price is
affordable just once a month. With a
monthly magazine you have more time to
plan and make the magazine of a better
quality which will attract a more
sophisticated audience.
Working titles: Britz Hitz, Starz muzic , Loud
Starz music was chosen because a staz music channel already exists therefor I thought using a
magazine with that specific title means that I would already attract such a big audience but
however this title cant be used because it means I would have to stick to all the existing
conventions and I wouldn’t be allowed to change the logo, this could also be seen as
copyright however a magazine based around starz music channel would be a good idea.
Loud as a title of a magazine is far to vague although the definition of loud works really well
with a music themed magazine as loud means characterized by a full, powerful sound. This
just wouldn’t work because I don’t think a title as plain and simple as this would attract the
intelligent audience I want.
Finally Britz Hitz is the name I have chosen to represent my magazine this is because it’s a
British magazine with a British audience and hits music is chart music . The music that my
magazine will be focusing on with the word its actually in the title people will have a clear idea
of what the genre is without even opening the first page. I believe that this title will attract
the right audience for me and will hopefully be very successful in the music magazine
industry.
Genre
The genre of my magazine
will be charts because I
believe with the age range
from 14-19 that is the most
popular music that is listened
to, I found this from my
survey responses so hopefully
this means that I will gain
many readers. Most of the
artists in the magazine that I
will cover will have articles on
popular fashionable artists
which relates to the theme,
most teens will feel as though
they can be a part of the pop
star life.
Reader profile
Beth is 18 years old and lives in York. She is a big music fan and enjoys
listening to live bands and going to festivals such as Leeds fest,
Glastonbury and T in the park. She is inspired by artists like Beyoncé
and Rihanna because they are strong independent women that are
extremely successful and popular in the music industry. Beth is
currently studying a levels at college and also aspiring to turn out as
successful as her two favourite role models. Beth also has a part time
job so that she can earn spare money to spend on new albums and
concert tickets as music is her life. Beth has never really been into
reading but for the past few months has decided to read some music
magazines to find out information on artists tour dates and enter
competitions hopefully with the chance to win great prizes. However
because Beth is only part time working and obviously doesn’t earn a
huge amount she takes into consideration how much is a reasonable
price to spend on magazines, per month she says she will spend at the
most £6 on a magazine because she does really enjoy them.

Double page spread:
The basic layout of my double page spread
will be in columns the reason for that is
because its easy to flow and clear to read.
Having columns helps it flow and be easy to
understand and figure out where your up to.
Plus writing in columns in a magazine
makes the page look more presentable and
its easy to put in pictures and pull quotes
without over filling the page. The columns
will flow down starting from the left hand
side going across the page. They will be
approximately 3c in width and as long as
the page or space without any pictures. The
fonts for my double page spread will vary
according to how important the information
is for example the title of the article will
need to be big and bold so that it stands out
and is very clear to read. The title will be
written in Charlemagne Std because it’s a
bold clear font that works well on the page.
Different pull quotes will be in different
fonts depending on what is said and how
important it is. The main font used for the
whole article again will be Georgia as that’s
the font I believe is clear and works in well.
The space will be used up very well without
overdoing the page, having 3 pictures
means it spreads up the writing a little bit
and helps keep readers interested. Colours
will be simple using a white background and
black writing just so that the focus is all on
the actual article and pictures and no one
gets distracted with all the colours. The
images will be of Leeds fest and Alice so
people get a real sense of experience like
they were actually there listening to the
music enjoying the atmosphere. The
caption Leeds fest experience is simple but
makes people want to know more hopefully
enticing people to read .
6. Mission statement
Britz hits is a magazine that is there to
help educate an audience on different
music genres and artists and also inform
readers about different peoples
experience all to do with music. Within
the articles it will not only include peoples
opinions but exclusive information that
everyone will want to hear. The readers
can enjoy a music magazine with lots of
pictures and information regarding their
favourite artist or tour dates. All of this
amazing stuff covered in just 98 pages
this will hopefully help widen there music
knowledge and be a great way to cure
some boredom. Britz hits will be a great
success as it should be covering all of the
most wanted features that my audience
has specifically said they would want the
magazine to include.

7. Britz Hitz:
I have chosen to use two fonts for the headline
which are Georgia and Harrington. I chose
Harrington simply because the curvy girly
capital letters will hopefully attract the girls
which is my main target audience because its
pretty and attractive I'm hoping this will be
appealing for girls the other font Georgia will
hopefully also attract some male attention as
its simple and clear.
The cover lines will be written in Georgia as
well because its an easy clear neat and tidy
looking font that will be easy to read and look
presentable on my front page.
Some of the pull quotes will be written in
SketchFlow Print because I see it as a fairly
eye catching bold font that will stand out from
others especially in a bright colour such as
pink.

Possible
fonts :
My magazine is going to have 3 main colours in the colour scheme which
will be pink white and grey. I have chosen these colours because I believe it
will work well with the theme of my magazine which is British hits there
will be mixture of both popular male and female singers most likely from
the younger generation as I know this will interest my target audience.
Firstly I chose the colour pink because it is the passion and power of red
softened with the purity, openness and completeness of white. The deeper
the pink, the more passion and energy it exhibits which is what I want to
come out of my magazine a good feel of energy and passion for music. The
colour pink will also be appealing to girls as it’s a very feminine colour that
is often associated with females. This will come in handy as I found in my
research the majority of people that will be reading my hits magazine will
be girls although I am hoping to also get lots of male readers which is why
I chose the colour grey as it’s a very emotionless colour. Being both
motionless and emotionless depending on the shade , grey is solid and
stable, creating a sense of calm and composure, relief from a chaotic world
which is exactly what music does it helps relax people and instantly puts
you in a good mood I'm hoping to get the same sensation after reading my
magazine. And finally I chose the colour white because white is associated
with light and goodness. It is considered to be the colour of perfection.
Music is perfection it helps everyone and plays a huge part in everyday life.
White is nor a colour associated with males or females it’s a very natural
colour suitable for both sexes it bright and creates a calm chilled feeling.
Reading often does the same so reading a magazine all about music
something you love will hopefully brighten your day.
9. Front cover photography
plan:
Model will be 17 and the shot used
for my front cover will be a close up to
show off any facial expressions and
the makeup on her face I wont be
using any props of the front page as I
want the main focus to be on the
natural looking model.
10. • Contents page and double page spread
My models will be all of a
similar age between 16 and 18
years old because that's the
target I am aiming to attract.
The shots for my contents
page and double page spread I
will have some close ups to
me you want to see more as it
doesn’t give much away and
also the shots of the artist that
will be featured in the double
page spreads will be action
shots of the guy playing and
singing to his audience getting
people excited. The shots will
be long shots to show his
posture and position and
medium shots to show the
guitar and how interested he
is and passionate about music
