What are Apps ?
 Android Mobile
  applications are the
  widgets that run on the
  android OS.
 Applications are
  designed for the hand
  held devices such as
  PDA’s etc.
 Mobile Applications can
  be sometimes pre
  installed on phone by
  the manufacturer or can
  be later on downloaded
  from the ANDROID APP
  MARKET.
Android market :
 Android Market is the online
    software store created by
    GOOGLE for ANDROID
    applications where you can
    upload the applications
    developed by you.

 Android market has MILLIONS
    of applications designed and
    developed by various
    developers.

 Market is the place where the
    user can download the
    applications from.

 Android applications on the
market can be paid or free.
Some Applications :
Shazam:
If you want to impress
   your friends with a
   mobile app, show them
   Shazam. Ever hear a
   song being played at a
   store or on the radio
   and ask
   yourself, “Oh, what
   song is that?” That’s
   where Shazam comes
   in. Just hit the button
and let it listen for 15
   seconds, query its
   database, and then
   return the name of
   artist and the song. It
   has about an 90%
   success rate.
Google Goggles
This is a fun app that is a little
but ahead of its time. It
  does visual searches. You
  can take pictures of things
and then the app tries to
tell you what they are. It’s
limited in its scope but it is
  pretty cool, and it’s
  definitely a peek into the
  future. One of the coolest
  features is the ability to
take pictures of text in a
  foreign language and let
  that app translate for you.
  In a foreign country, this
  can help you read street
  signs and avoid going into
  the wrong bathroom.
Four Square
Foursquare helps you
  explore the world around
  you. Keep up with
  friends, get insider
  tips, and unlock discounts
  and rewards. While on the
  go, you can easily tell
  friends where you
  are, share pictures, get
  their comments ("I'm right
  around the corner, I'll stop
by to say hello"), and get
  insider tips ("order the
  Lobster Ravioli; it's the
best dish by far."). Tons of
  places offer discounts and
  freebies to foursquare
  users, and you earn
  points and badges for
  doing the things you love.
Have fun exploring!
Layar
See the World! Layar is a
  mobile app for discovering
  information about the
  world around you. Using
  Augmented Reality (AR)
  technology, Layar
  displays digital
  information called “layers”
  into your Smartphone's
  field of vision.
Share your augmented
  experiences with your
  friends and followers on
  Facebook and Twitter.
  Connect your Layar
  account to any featured
  social network and share
  your favorite layers, spots
  and screenshots.
