What kind of media institution might distribute your film
1. What Kind of Media Institution
might distribute your media
product and why?
Amy Bassinder
2. Our Film:
Our film is a low budget film, that has
been set in south Yorkshire and
therefore is an independent film. It also
isn’t a mainstream film that everyone will
enjoy and is targeted at a smaller group,
which makes it suitable for an
independent institution.
3. An independent institution:
Warp Films- Warp Films is an independent
film production company based in Sheffield &
London, UK. This is ideal for our film as it is
set in South Yorkshire. They have produced
films including, This Is England, Four Lions,
Submarine and Kill List.
The film would be distributed on a low budget,
in local cinemas and advertised locally and be
set only in Yorkshire, the film would be
targeted at young adults, and stay in the
genre of horror, there may be strong Yorkshire
accents and more swearing.
4. Entertainment Film Distributors:
This company distribute independent films
but are the leading independent film
distributor in Uk and Ireland, they have
higher budgets and have distributed some
of the leading films of our time. Films they
have distributed include Saw, Scream, The
Lord of the Rings and Texas Chainsaw
Massacre.
The film could be distributed world- wide
and enter many cinema’s. The film may be
effected as it may have a high budget with
many settings and a lot of special
effects, etc.
5. Similar film:
Panic Room-
Distributed by Sony Pictures. This film was similar to ours
as it was aimed at anybody aged from 15 to 40 and entered
the genre of thriller. The film was distributed by Sony
Pictures which is an American television and film
production/distribution unit of media conglomerate Sony. It
is based California and serves as Sony's main global film
production/distribution company.
The film was set in America and had a large budget and
therefore was distributed by a mainstream distribution
company, unlike ours.
