NME (new musical express) is a British weekly music magazine that began as a newspaper in 1952. It was the first British paper to include music charts. The magazine is owned by IPC media, a large publishing company that produces over 60 magazines targeted at different audiences. NME targets both male and female younger audiences with its coverage of various music genres and genres.

NME music magazine started being printed in March
1952 and ever since then it has been printed weekly.
It started out as a newspaper and then gradually
turned into magazine print. It was the first British
paper which included the charts. NME now has an
online internet website which began in 1996 and it
now has over 5 millions users per month. NME also
hold there own music awards, the winners are
nominated by the readers of the magazine.

owned by IPC media. IPC media produce over
60 media brands. 26 million adults in the UK read
the magazines which are produced by IPC media
and over 20 million users use there website each
month. IPC media produce NME magazine along
with many others which are well known such as
country life, horse and hound, look, now and
chat. IPC media have 3 main audiences for the
media that they produce and these are mass
marketing women, up market women and men.

media that they produce. This is because they print
various different magazines which are targeted at all
different audiences. IPC media produce over 60
brands. These brands include the big well known
names such are Marie Claire, nuts, now, look, TV
times, ideal home and pick me up.

I would describe the company IPC media as being a
mainstream company, this is because they produce a
number of magazines which are well known to the
public. Also they produce weekly magazines which
means that they must be selling there magazines on
a large scale. The total circulation of the magazine
between January 2010 and June 2010 was 33,875.

I would consider the magazine to be British because
it is a popular British publication. Also the writers of
the magazine are British and these are Tony Parsons
and Julie Burchill. The magazine editor is Krissi
Murison who is also British. This means that the
magazine will have a very British feel to it. The
magazine includes the British weekly charts.

The target audience for NME magazine would be
both male and female. This is because it is a more
gender equal magazine and it is not biased towards a
certain gender. NME also have a wider range of
music genres included in it rather than a specific
genre. NME is also a very popular magazine, it is
popular with young people because of the up to date
music that it includes. NME try to target there
audience in both male and females and they target
younger people rather than older people.
